This article is about a fairly new business established by an apparently well recognized publicity person. (Just Google for Rachel Noerdlinger). Agreed, it should have a few footnotes referring to specific press citations mentioning Ms. Noerdlinger. I just looked up Twitter. Now, land sakes, how important is Twitter? About as important as Flagpole_sitting. Neither one contributes to progress in the fortunes of minorities, as does Ms. Noerdlinger's firm. The fact that she is on the diversity board of Ogilvy and Mather lends stature, as well.

Wikipedia, carrying articles on such nonsense as Dowsing and Earth_radiation and of such a promotional nature as Ruger (see below), as well as a large biography of the crackpot Thomas Jefferson Jackson See is in a poor position to critique Rachel Noerdlinger. For promotional work and language see Ruger. I quote: Ruger is a dominant player in the .22 rimfire rifle market in the U.S.....Ruger similarly dominates the .22 rimfire semiauto pistol market with the Ruger MK II and Ruger MK III. Like the 10/22, the MkII is extremely well supported with a variety of good aftermarket accessories. (a bit of Peacock talk?)PollyPollyPeptide (talk) 05:22, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

BLP concerns

[edit]

I am concerned that this "biography" is largely a coatrack/attack article. The entire "controversy" section was added as a single edit by a long-vanished single-purpose account. Detailed accountings of negative actions by Noerdlinger's son have no place in this biography — we do not visit the sins of the children on their parents. Brief mention may be warranted; multiple sentences/paragraphs quite clearly place undue weight on the actions of someone else in in her biography. This is not a biography of Rachel's son. We do not visit the sins of the children on their parents. For example, we do not mention in George W. Bush's biography that his daughter, Jenna, was arrested and pleaded no contest to alcohol-related crimes. This was a far higher-profile example of a child's crime, and yet it is nowhere in the father's biography. Based on this precedent, I believe we should remove all mention of her son's crimes or allegations from Rachel's biography, except insofar as to mention that the 2014 arrest played a role in her decision to step down from the job. The other arrests are not relevant to the biography of someone else entirely. NorthBySouthBaranof (talk) 20:10, 30 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I have posted on the BLP noticeboard requesting further eyes on this issue. NorthBySouthBaranof (talk) 20:18, 30 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Undue weight tag

[edit]

I have removed the "undue weight" tag. Much of Noerdlinger's notability relates to the controversy surrounding her appointment to Chirlane McCray's staff. I think that the section is fair. SunCrow (talk) 03:21, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
