This really could use some work; it's a bigger thing than the article makes it out to be. I, however, do not know much about it --Crucible Guardian 00:27, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy

[edit]

I've removed the anti-abortion ad that was posted that has no relevance in the scheme of the organization. --207.179.232.63 (talk) 16:49, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Komen has raised $1.4 billion through Race for the Cure and such a large section is dedicated to waht is said to be a $45,000 contribution to a program that had NOTHING to do with abortion? Can someone please address this. I don't think the large picture is a fair representation of the Race and all it has done. Last time I checked Wikipedia is not the place for Pro-life protests? --207.179.232.63 (talk) 17:04, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

While the section is disproportionate to the rest of the article, if it is accurate it should remain. An alternative to removing is expanding the rest of the article with good deeds, history, details (stats) about the "Race for the Cure". This would make the article fairer. I do not understand what you mean by "a $45,000 contribution to a program that had NOTHING to do with abortion", could you elaborate on what the money was used for? - RoyBoy 20:30, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"cause breast cancer" should be changed to "may increase the risk of breast cancer". Even if one were to believe abortion increases breast cancer risk, it is only one factor among many impacting cancer risk over a woman's lifetime. Causation simply has not been demonstrated; to outline the pro-life belief it has is wrong and requires a reply of the scientific consensus. However both do not belong in this article. - RoyBoy 22:48, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

removed image due to copyright violation discussed. --74.73.171.166 (talk) 03:50, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This section is grossly disportionate. Please expand on the Race as it truly is a bigger deal than a bunch of crazy anti-abortion nuts using Wikipedia to advance their cause. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.73.171.166 (talk) 04:02, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed redundancies and details that were unnecessary making it shorter and clearer at the same time. Also toned it down so there isn't a need for a scientific rebuttal. As to expanding the article that is open for anyone to help out with... ideally someone passionate and involved with the Race. - RoyBoy 04:37, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
