Boundaries

[edit]

I would to point out that the boundaries that you assign to Rabbittown are incorrect. The southern border of Rabbittown is the North side of Merrymeeting Road and not Freshwater Road as you state. The area bounded between the south side of Merrymeeting and the north side of Freshwater from Parade Street to the intersection of Merrymeeting and Freshwater is known as the Higher Levels, where my family lived for over 100 years. The streets included in the Higher Levels are , Parade, Spencer, Feild, Cook, and Scott Street; Blatch Ave, Mayor Ave between Merrymeeting and Freshwater and Linscott Street. This part of St. John's was built up in the late 19th Century as opposed to the Rabbittown which was mainly built up in the middle of the 20th Century.

The boundaries of Rabbittown therefore are, Newtown Road from Merrymeeting to Empire, then West along Empire to Freshwater, then south east along Freshwater to Merrymeeting, then North along Merrymeeting back to the intersection at Newtown Road.

PS. Just a fun fact, the Rabbittown Theatre is not strictly speaking in Rabbittown. A fact they always admitted. 15:12, 23 December 2018‎ User: 2607:fea8:d5e0:611:f5d8:6f98:d025:ca9d

The above moved here from the article page. Maybe this material can be incorporated into the article, with citations? Rwood128 (talk) 00:02, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Rwood128: With some Google searching, I found this: [1]. Not sure how useful it might be. There's also [2] and [3]. Clovermoss (talk) 00:17, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Clovermoss for taking the time, however, two of the links relate to other Rabbittowns. All the same this does make me wonder about the name, "Rabbittown". Rwood128 (talk) 10:36, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
See [[4]], presumably from the Encyclopaedia of Newfoundland and Labrador. Rwood128 (talk) 10:49, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
