It's manufactured by the Ground Systems Division in York, Pennsylvania, in Michigan and in South Carolina, but it was primarily designed by OMC in South Africa (with the Ground Systems Division in Santa Clara designing auxiliary items such as the robotic arm interface). You need only look at OMC's other vehicles, such as the RG-31, to see the family resemblance. — Impi 16:43, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I understand where that assumption comes from, as Ground Systems has more of a tracked history. I'm just saying that everything I hear in the industry is that Ground Systems took the RG31 with blessings from BAE on high and led the redesign by themselves, including all the automotive and survivability systems, in response to a desire to get into the wheeled vehicle game. OMC was in the loop to help them with this transition, but the TDP belongs to GS. That's incorrect. Ground Systems was the overall co-ordinator, but it commissioned Land Systems OMC to design the vehicle, which was then shipped to Ground Systems' Santa Clara division. There it was fitted with US-sourced ballistic glass and seats and the EOD robotic arm before undergoing ballistic tests. See this article for confirmation, as well as this article which mentions how Land Systems OMC receives royalties for the RG-33 design, which wouldn't be the case had Ground Systems developed the vehicle. — Impi 15:30, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
