A typo in the article
[edit]In the introduction, the term "dean" should be replaced by "doyen". Indeed, in the two links quoted in the relevant line, Prof. Majumdar is described as the "doyen" of Indian historians, and not as "dean", which seems to be a term more of an administrative nature. --Saurav
Death date
[edit]His death date appears to be February 11, 1980. Sheriff of Kolkata
[edit]The two citations given in the lead for the claim that he was ever Sheriff of Kolkata don't mention this office. Both only mention Majumdar briefly and in passing. I am having trouble finding any evidence for this claim that doesn't look like it originated on Wikipedia itself. The page Sheriff of Kolkata also lists him; the citation for this source is the highly unreliable sheriffofcalcutta.webs.com, which is no longer live, though an archived copy is available here. If someone has evidence of this claim, please provide a source. Brusquedandelion (talk) 12:48, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Brusquedandelion: I am pretty certain that Wikipedia did not exist as of 1969 or 1985. :-) TrangaBellam (talk) 12:23, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
- Nice! I didn't find these sources, thank you for locating them. Brusquedandelion (talk) 12:25, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
R.C Majumdar was a nationalist author..
[edit]The title @Orientls, I'd stated my sources [1], Nationalist and the term Hindu nationalist is used interchangeably used in most sources. These authors in India are known to praise native culture. "Hindu Nationalist" is a redundant addition when they are simply nationalists, and the latter is more easily interpreted . - Hey, @Orientls if you aren't going to bother building a consensus and go on with disruptive reverts I'm going to restore the version which I editted.
Majumdar and his historiography
[edit]I will write a note once I have some time but can others please focus on building a biography than fixating on labels in the lead? TrangaBellam (talk) 15:24, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
- You can propose what you are going to add but until then you must not remove "Hindu nationalist" from the lead. Ratnahastin (talk) 16:48, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
