Isn't there some video game character named Quote?

Quotation

[edit]

I have made multiple edits to articles misusing "quote" as a noun. Quote as a noun is a backformation: a nonexistent word coined from an actual word erroneously supposed to be derived from it as described in Wiktionary and elsewhere. Turkeyphant 14:22, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I’ve reverted a few of your edits. “Quote” (as a noun) is indeed an existent word, even though usage in this context dates back a mere 120 years. While informal, the usage is correct. You’re welcome to debate the proper level of formality on Wikipedia, but don’t go around moving articles of actual, commonly-used terms (e.g. Pull quote[1]) without reason. —Down10 TACO 04:04, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
