Removal of Jesse Robredo
[edit]I'm writing this note before I make the actual edit: I'll be removing Jesse Robredo's name on the list because, although the edit has a citation, the official websites of the Philippine government says that it's a different award that is being handed to him:
However, his name appears [Philippine_Legion_of_Honor|in the correct award}, so I won't be editing it. --- Tito Pao (talk) 19:01, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
- Robredo was awarded the Quezon Service Cross according to this [3] and this [4]. I added the gov link as a source and fixed his wikilink and the date of award. EricSerge (talk) 16:43, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
Pres. Manuel Roxas was awarded the Quezon Service Cross
[edit]I added President Manuel Roxas to the list of Quezon Service Cross recipients considering that he was posthumously awarded by Pres. Magsaysay according to the Official Gazette of the Republic of the Philippines Vol. 52 No. 7, page cccv. The award was presented on behalf of President Magsaysay by Vice-President Carlos P. Garcia to Mrs. Trinidad L. Roxas, the widow of President Roxas. However, an editor reversed my edit and called it "unverifiable/dubious" despite the fact that I checked the physical copy of the Official Gazette and not the online version which contains so many errors. Do editors not rely on physical copies of the Gazette anymore? This is highly irresponsible. Justinadriel (talk) 06:59, 22 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Justinadriel:, unfortunately the claim that Roxas is included could not be verified since no additional reliable sources support that claim. Multiple reliable sources on the internet, such as Inquirer and PNA, have only listed six, and he is not included. If ever Roxas was conferred the award, I highly doubt that he would not be included in lists since he is a high profile figure. You can seek opinions from other editors on Wikipedia talk:Tambayan Philippines regarding this matter. –Sanglahi86 (talk) 12:07, 22 March 2022 (UTC)
- Why does information in the physical version of the Official Gazette (OG) need to be verified by additional sources? Since when has the Internet become a more reliable source than the physical version of the OG? Even the online version of the OG is erroneous since it lists only five (See: https://www.officialgazette.gov.ph/history-of-the-quezon-service-cross/). Since the physical OG is a primary source, I submit that there is no need for additional "reliable" sources. If Inquirer, PNA, or other online sources do not list Roxas, that says a lot about the quality of their research. At least the Museum of Jesse Robredo did their research and included Roxas (See: https://facebook.com/MuseoNiJesseRobredo/albums/1153642651703402). Justinadriel (talk) 01:41, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
