Identification

[edit]

I am having great difficulty identifying loco 36. Is it part of the A10 Fairlie class? [1] The build date of 1877 is correct. Fairlie, in this context, does not mean an articulated Fairlie locomotive but one built by the Fairlie Engine Company. Biscuittin (talk) 15:01, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Quote "These were based on the earlier Avonside A Class engines" but I can't find any information on these. Biscuittin (talk) 15:08, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have found loco 37 [2] (also built 1877) but this was a one-off. My tentative conclusion is that no. 36 was one of the elusive Avonside locos and the claim it was built at Ipswich works is probably wrong. Biscuittin (talk) 15:33, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think no.36 must have been scrapped before 1900 and this is why it is not listed [3] Biscuittin (talk) 22:07, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I intend to remove no.36 from this page because it is not one of the Vulcan/Fairlies. I will create a separate page for it when I have enough information. Biscuittin (talk) 08:03, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Biscuittin (talk) 08:14, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
