Looks pretty good altogether. Fairly minor issues as far as GA goes. Here is a bit of a list, and I'll have another look through once these have been addressed. The sourcing looks impeccable and the images are all good. Sarastro1 (talk) 21:02, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Lead:

  • ”including many World Series Cricket games and matches of the 2007 Cricket World Cup.”: Can we date the WSC matches, so they don’t look like they were in 2007?
  • ”The 'Concrete Stand' was renamed the Learie Constantine Stand”: I think MoS wants us to use double quotation marks rather than single.
  • If we are using ODI as an abbreviation, can we put in brackets after the first mention of One Day International?
  • ”Besides the main cricket stadium”: Besides is a little idiomatic; maybe “As well as” or similar
  • ”includes a Gym”: Why are we capitalising?
  • I’m not a fan of citations in the lead. Everything there should be in the main body and cited there. And I think the information on stands, beauty and the like, should be in its own section in the main body. (See below)
Done most of the above. No idea why gym was capitalised (?!). I haven't removed the citations in the lead yet as I thought that something that needed strong citation was okay to cite in the lead, but happy to move to the section of the main text if you want. Cricketing history:

  • Watch out for instances of cricket/sports jargon. I've listed a couple, but there may be more.
  • ”Queen's Park Oval Cricket Club”: Worth a red-link?
Already linked in the lead. --S.G.(GH) ping! 21:02, 30 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • ”The natural soil at the ground prevented turf wickets from being laid down”: Any idea why?
Not yet, will try to find out. --S.G.(GH) ping! 21:02, 30 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • ”so groundsmen quickly laid a pitch of clay”: When?
  • ”The first recorded match took place there on January 29, 1897”: Perhaps worth recording that this was the first match recorded by the ASC or CricketArchive; I’ll bet there are matches recorded in the local press before that.
  • ”and an XI fronted by the Queen's Park Oval”: Maybe link or explain XI
  • ”Only a few days later on February 1, however, the ground's maiden first-class fixture took place between Trinidad and the same Lord Hawke's XI. The home team won by 137 runs.”: I don’t think we need “however”.
  • ”The fixture repeated itself on February 5”: Slightly odd phrasing. Maybe “A fixture between the same teams took place…”
  • ”This growth of domestic cricket continued. In April 1899 Trinidad played a Barbados-based XI led by Arthur St. Hill, an early domestic West Indian fixture.”: Can all this be cited to a fixture list? I’m not sure it shows the growth of domestic cricket.
  • ”The ground hosted the finals of the 1906 and 1910 Inter-Colonial Tournaments.”: Apparently uncited, although the fixture list does it nicely.
  • ”The Ground also hosted the Second Test “: Why is Ground capitalised?
  • ”and throughout the war years the Queen's Park Oval would host several first-class games”: Why not just “hosted”?
  • ”From hereon”: A little archaic?
  • ”From 1958 the Beaumont Cup was also competed at the Queen's Park Oval”: Perhaps “the Beaumont Cup competition was held at…”
  • ”The latter saw a heavy West Indian defeat, however across the series they were victorious 2:1”: I think we should have a full stop before however. Also, I think the correct form for results is 2–1.
  • ”On this tour India were victorious, the first time they had ever been so against the West Indies in the Caribbean”: Citation for this?
  • ”Gavaskar would also make the most centuries made by any player at the ground, scoring five.”: Something has gone a bit wrong here!
  • ”In the 1976 Indian tour of the West Indies, the Queen's Park Oval hosted the Second and Third Tests. The West Indians played Andy Roberts and Michael Holding in both games, though India played well enough to draw the first and win the second of these fixtures.”: Not all this is covered by the fixture list.
  • ”A six-for”: Jargon?
  • ”The retirement of Ambrose and Courtney Walsh in 2001 further hampered West Indian efforts, and they were defeated at the Queen's Park Oval by South Africa in March”: Retirement not covered in the citation.
  • Several instances of using the “would” form throughout, where I don’t think we need it.
  • ”It featured a "library and museum space on the ground floor, as well as a top class health, spa, gymnasium and restaurant facilities, and an entertainment centre with satellite TV and other comforts.””: This and the following sentence require WP:INTEXT attribution.
  • Anything about the pitch attributes? What was its reputation like?
  • I think we go too heavily into WI history; this could be cut back and commentary limited to the QPO matches.
  • I think we need a separate section on the stadium and its facilities; the reader shouldn’t need to read the history section to find out what the ground is like. Some of the info from the lead, and maybe some of the World Cup redevelopment could be moved here.
  • Gateshead International Stadium, although not a cricket ground, is a FAC which is a pretty good model to follow for a sports ground article. It might provide a few ideas if you want to take this further.
  • As it is, I think this is probably our best cricket ground article on WP at the moment, so nice work. Sarastro1 (talk) 21:02, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'll place this on hold for now. Sarastro1 (talk) 21:04, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Addressing. Wait one. S.G.(GH) ping! 20:57, 30 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've made a lot of the changes, and will try to do some more work on it. I wanted to make a map of the ground based on satellite images but I can't find one of good enough res to base it on. I'll try to find more on the pitch, as it was and as it is, and add it in a section on the facilities perhaps. --S.G.(GH) ping! 21:21, 30 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

OK, passing now. Looks good, nice work! Sarastro1 (talk) 18:38, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
