old provincial route 9
[edit]I see this header:
"Autoroute Décarie"
accompanied by this redirection notice:
" Autoroute Décarie, Décarie Autoroute, Décarie Expressway, Quebec Route 9 and Décarie Boulevard redirect here."
If you look up US 9 here on wikipedia, you will see that, before we had the I-87/autoroute 15 connection at the NY-Quebec border, there was Quebec route 9, acting as a continuation of US 9. The above redirection for Quebec Route 9 seems to be too narrow (i.e., does not account for Quebec route 9 starting all the way down at US border).
“Décarie” vs. “Decarie”
[edit]This article currently makes a clear separation of spellings between the autoroute (“Décarie”) and the boulevard (“Decarie”). This distinction is not supported by the City of Montréal (on street signage or on its Web site), nor by the exceedingly correct Commission de toponymie du Québec, nor, as far as I can tell, by Anglo usage – they just call both parts “duh-CARR-y”, or sometimes “the duh-CARR-y” when referring to the expressway in particular. Barring any good argument to the contrary, I think the « accent aigu » should be added to all instances of the name, which commemorates the early farming family (Descarries, later Décarie).
