The HD extends beyond the Quaker Hill hill, by my reading of the NRHP doc (and perhaps other sources). It's a fair question, though, what other named areas does it extend into? Comparing map on page 18 to various other maps, to try to figure out. I can't tell for sure, but on the north side, it perhaps extends into Uncasville (appears on Mapquest map), perhaps Bartlett (appears on Mapquest map). Also is "Montville" a hamlet there? There is stray "Montville CONN" label on a roadway in Mapquest map, perhaps a connector road to/from Montville. On the south side, I imagine that the properties on the south side of Smith Cove are not in Quaker Hill. I imagine that crossing Hunts Brook (labelled on Google terrain map) to the south brings you off of Quaker Hill. Those southern end properties in fact appear to be in Thames View, Connecticut, per Mapquest. doncram (talk) 18:52, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
"Thames View" and "Best View" areas are mentioned in the NRHP doc. Google maps place the phrase "Quaker Hill" north of Smith Cove, at intersection of Mohegan Avenue (CT 32) and Scotch Cap Road. Real estate listings info could be a source, although not a great one, about what is commonly now referred to as Quaker Hill, and what parts of the HD are not. I would prefer for the NRHP HD article text to be free of a lot of arguing about what is modern-day Quaker Hill though. The HD is well-defined and can be described without getting bogged down in that and inviting readers to enter into dispute. It's okay to discuss here on the Talk page, but detailed comparisons of historic Quaker Hill vs. modern Quaker Hill (and perhaps also some comparison of the HD) belong in the Quaker Hill, Connecticut place article, IMO. doncram (talk) 19:13, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Bartlett (the area around Bartlett Cove near the Montville town line) is well north of the district boundary. Thames View and Best View are specifically mentioned as being excluded, with Best View being east of Route 32 (the eastern boundary) and Thames View forming the southern boundary. Montville Connector is the name of a road. The town center of Montville (aka Uncasville) is well north of the district, even further north than Bartlett. You've had your way in making separate articles here. The very least you can do is describe them accurately. --Polaron | Talk19:30, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
