Opening statement

[edit]

In reviews I conduct, I may make small copyedits. These will only be limited to spelling and punctuation (removal of double spaces and such). I will only make substantive edits that change the flow and structure of the prose if I previously suggested and it is necessary. For replying to Reviewer comment, please use  Done,  Fixed, plus Added,  Not done,  Doing..., or minus Removed, followed by any comment you'd like to make. I will be crossing out my comments as they are redressed, and only mine. A detailed, section-by-section review will follow. —♠Vami_IV†♠ 18:18, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

As this the first of the reviewee's articles that I have reviewed, they should note that I am a grammar pendant and will nitpick in the interest of prose quality. –♠Vami_IV†♠ 18:18, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Vami IV, thanks for taking this up. Kew Gardens 613 is offline till Saturday as he is celebrating Passover and Shabbat. I'll address some of these comments. epicgenius (talk) 19:47, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, good to know. I'll make sure to ping you for each Kew Gardens article I review in the future. –♠Vami_IV†♠ 19:49, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Prose

[edit]

There seems to be some missing pieces in "History". Specific examples I can think of are "Why were the buses so dirty in the 1970s?" and "Why, and for how long, was the City nationalizing the transport companies?"

Well, to your specific examples, the 1970s were a very dark time for NYC (see 1975 New York City fiscal crisis). Privatizing transport would've been a good idea at the time. In general, I don't think these are specific to the Q35, which is probably why the original editors did not add these details. epicgenius (talk) 19:52, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
They aren't, but they are important context. I'm sure the sources at least mention those circumstances. "What" and "why" are the two faces of the mint we writers deal in. –♠Vami_IV†♠ 22:27, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I fixed the first one. Maybe Kew Gardens can tackle the other when he comes back. epicgenius (talk) 23:13, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'll leave this On Hold until that time. –♠Vami_IV†♠ 00:30, 10 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Take 2
  • Following the MTA takeover in 2006, several stops in Brooklyn were eliminated to streamline service. Essentially, the Q35 makes limited-stops in Brooklyn, while operating as a local in Queens. I'd combine this with the last sentence of the lead's first paragraph.

@Vami IV: Due to Passover, I won't be able to do any editing from tonight until Thursday evening at the earliest. I am still committed to addressing your concerns with the article. Thanks for your patience and stay safe. @Epicgenius: Thanks so much for helping out!--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 23:11, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
