Image of Pyoderma gangrenosum?

I have a picture of a friend's who has this problem. Is anyone interested in picture? If so please let me know and I will get permission to share it. I know this will not be a problem but I always like permission to share personal information. Yes, this would be very useful, thanks very much. If the person who holds the copyright of the picture (the person who took it) gives permission for it to be released under the GFDL (meaning it can be used and distributed freely by anyone who wants to), then Wikipedia can use it. You can upload the file here. I'd suggest removing identifying info (e.g. censoring out the person's eyes if the picture includes their face), because your friend may not want their image on the internet, especially since it's medical in nature. I certainly understand the concern about the disturbingness of the picture, but I feel it could be very helpful to those trying to understand the condition. We can move the picture down the page or do something else to make it less obvious. Thanks very much for helping out the encyclopedia with this useful offer! I don't have any of the things the form asks for. This is a friend who sent me (and others) the picture via email. So does this not conform to the rules or is there another form or way to share it? Thanks, --Crohnie 14:42, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

I think to use the picture you'll have to figure out who owns the copyright and get their permission. That's all you need, I believe. If your friend took the picture, they'll need to allow the picture to be used under the GFDL. If you don't know who took the picture, you're right, it probably can't be used. Hi, sorry for taking so long to respond. I am having problems with my computer and having memory problems with it, at least we think. The memory will be here hopefully today. Anyways, my friend emailed me with permission but I have been unable to get my picture file to open so I emailed again with a request for the pictures again and a second email stating it's not owned by anyone else and that I have permission to share it. I haven't been posting here but I have been reading trying to learn something.  :) I will get back to you when I have the info and then try, hopefully with your help, to get the photo to you so that you can see if the pictures are suitable for the needs here. Thanks again for going to all this effort to get us this picture. To be clear, the copyright owner (the person who took the picture, if it hasn't been published) has to grant permission for the picture to be released under the GFDL, so anyone can copy and use it for whatever to their heart's content. That is, permission to use it just on Wikipedia is not enough (see here. this is because all content in Wikipedia is free for others to copy and use, e.g. in mirrors). But as long as the person who took the picture writes that they are ok with releasing it under the GFDL, then it will be no problem. Sorry it's kind of a hassle. I think it will be really useful to have a picture, I think it will give people a much better idea of what we're talking about. If you're concerned about whether the picture is appropriate for the article, you can upload it and link to it here on the talk page, and we can discuss it. Thanks again and I understand. As soon as I get the picture (s) and the info you describe I will follow your direction above. The pictures are very graffic especially compared to the one shown in the article plus what I have read about some of the graffic pictures that were in discussion about crohn's disease, I will probably do the latter part so others can see them first to make sure they aren't too graffic for the normal person to access. I finally have the pictures and an email for permission to share these personal pictures. Sorry it took so long, I was having problems with my health.
