Question

The "most primitive basalts". Are these merely the oldest? or is there something primitive about these basalts?--Wetman (talk) 01:43, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

They are primitive because nearly all magmas and lavas come from the same source material: mantle peridotite and then evolves into basalt, rhyolite, granite or whatever.. Maybe it should be clarified in the article.Dentren | ^Talk 15:52, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed a couple of typos above, but I didn't like to change the wording - however 'evolves' is probably not the right word, try Igneous differentiation.

Eruption Picture

The picture of the eruption has a link to the Great Chilean Earthquake, which then redirects to 1960 Valdivia earthquake page.
