sources, merging, etc
[edit]An editor has twice deleted this article by redirecting it to Carretera Central (Puerto Rico). I am meanwhile deleting unsourced info added to that article. And the merger loses info that is here.
Certainly providing some sourced info about the routes would help. But merging with no sources seems Luddite or something. Can you please help develop information, rather than battling to redirect articles? If you have sourced info, put into articles. If have other info, put it on Talk pages for other editors to consider. Please. doncram (talk) 16:57, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
- The idea of merging was discussed at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject U.S. Roads#another merger candidate: PR-14 vs. Carretera Central. Also I documented that at least at one point, the Carretera Central (Puerto Rico) route differs from PR 14's. The Arenas Bridge of the Carretera Central route is about half a mile from PR 14. Attempts to merge seem to be over. This PR 14 remains a viable article to be developed further to cover the modern highway that it is. doncram (talk) 22:20, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- Realignments and relocations to new roadways are quite common and for the most part the old alignments are discussed in the modern highway article. PR-735 is a secondary road and would likely be merged with the PR-14 article as it is an old alignment. Merging ia still probably the best option until such a time when a split for article length purposes becomes necessary. --Polaron | Talk 22:44, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
removed material re Carretera Central
[edit]I tried revising it, but then simply removed the following passage from the article:
It may approximately follow part of the route of the historic Carretera Central. The Carretera Central, which ran from San Juan to Ponce, was the first north-south highway crossing Puerto Rico's Cordillera Central, was substantially completed by 1886.
I could add a reference to support info about the Carretera, a wagon road, but i have no source describing the relationship btwn it and PR14. doncram (talk) 23:48, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
