About the Hoax of SELIAN A. DIAZ
[edit]An elaborate hoax of wxtremely bad taste, was made which made people believe that a Selian A. Diaz was a Puerto Rican soldier who had perished in the War in Iraq.
Investigations were made and there is no verifiabl eproof that said person even served in the military:
- Check for official DOD document(s)
http://www.defenselink.mil/search/ SELIAN A. DIAZ Result: No document found matching SELIAN A. DIAZ.
- All the references are from guest books and forum web sites, none reliabloe nor verifiable.
She does not appear on other well-know casualty sites. Such as: www.fallenheroesmemorial.com www.militarycity.com www.pigstye.net/iraq/
- All causalties are listed and released by Dept. of Defense.
- Noemi Figueroa, pointed out to me, that she was not listed on DOD causualty release. She had a ret. 65th Borinqueer research her also he also could not confirm her. This is what he concluded:
Here is what ret. 65th Borinqueer who helps with Noemi Figueroa (PRSOLDIER.COM) in searching for fallen boricuas at this time of war.
While looking into her casualty status, early on - when it first stated appearing online, I felt something was not right about her - how she was described, how she wasn't in uniform, how she appeared more sensual than military. She was portrayed "too heroic" and "too tragic" when compared to the other casualties, and there weren't any reports in the papers about her casualty status at thev time. I was skeptical then, and remain so now.
Until someone else can prove to me beyond a reasonable doubt that this person was truly an official casualty - or was in the military for that matter, I will not believe this person was in the military, served in the Iraqi war or became a casualty.

Memo: no articles at Puerto Rico Herald web site on her nor anything about celebration.
