The "Oversimplified map" is out of date. Should it be removed? I don't edit wikipedia often, so my apologies. AlphaZetta (talk) 06:26, 18 March 2022 (UTC)
Potential route maps for the Christchurch metro
[edit]I've been working on creating route maps for the Christchurch metro area and would appreciate it if someone could take a look and give me their thoughts. While there is still some editing to be done, the maps are ready for feedback. Additionally, I'd like to discuss the best place to put the maps in an article.
Here is a like to them on my sandbox: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:CoderThomasB/sandbox&oldid=1131691188 CoderThomasB (talk) 11:26, 5 January 2023 (UTC)

- I suggest they could replace the tables in section 3, maybe as a gallery, though they'd need the links from those tables and most of the notes. I've doubts about showing routes with a limited service, when they have half hourly buses. It'd be helpful to add where routes connect. Johnragla (talk) 18:08, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
- Working on it. I'll tweak the maps with your suggestions and will replay aging when ready. CoderThomasB (talk) 18:56, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
- I got distracted a lot, but I've made a little bit of progress. I'll probably continue to work on it tomorrow!

Rename to Public transport in Canterbury, New Zealand
[edit]Thoughts on renaming this article. It appears to be no longer just about Christchurch City but also including the districts of Waimakariri, Selwyn, Ashburton and Timaru. Also Environment Canterbury (ECAN), the Canterbury Regional council, administers public transport services in the region which is another reason why renaming the article may be appropriate. I have noticed other articles for New Zealand based public transport articles are also centered on the region the city lies in, rather than the city itself. Ajf773 (talk) 10:06, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- I agree that there should be a set of regional public transport articles covering the country given that it’s organised by regional councils. And if those articles become too long, we can always have sub-regional articles spun out, e.g. one for Christchurch and another one for Timaru. But a regional article should give the overview. Schwede66 16:02, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- Seems appropriate, especially given that public transport is the responsibility of the regional councils rather than individual districts/cities. I don't think many individual locales could support their own article, so it makes sense to have them all fall under a regional article for now (some of the cities that are part of a greater region may be candidates in future but don't have significant enough coverage at the moment).
- May I suggest also renaming Public transport in New Plymouth → Public transport in Taranaki, as that article seems to be in a similar state to this one. MangoMan11 (talk) 00:34, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
