[edit]The statement "The PstI restriction/modification (R/M) system has two components: a restriction enzyme that cleaves foreign DNA, and a methyltransferase which protect native DNA strands via histone methylation" seems to imply that Providencia stuartii has histones and that these may be methylated. What is the evidence that gram positive bacteria have histones and that these may be methylated?
