Vandalism

This page is frequently targeted by vandals, usually by anonymous users. How can we make this at least a semi-protected page, making this kind of crap more difficult? Kochamanita (talk) 19:06, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

  • I will monitor this page, as I'm trying to rehab it (see merger proposal below). Should this remain an issue, refer to WP:VAN for instructions. Warn first, then request protection.Cdtew (talk) 19:14, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

Map of territorial claims

The following off-site maps show the various claims of the original Thirteen Colonies: [1], [2], [3], and [4]. If this information could be included in a map of this province's claims, it would be great. (This request was originally made by jengod, and I moved it here.) – Quadell (talk) (bounties) 16:06, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

Proposed merger from Royal Colony of North Carolina

The Royal Colony article's existence is redundant, and the supposition that the Province and Royal Colony were different is incorrect. The province was still a province, merely it was treated (with the exception of the Granville District as a Royal Colony after 1729. That didn't change its provincial status. I propose we move Royal Colony of North Carolina and merge with this more complete article. Cdtew (talk) 17:34, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

Never a province

The word "province" was never part of the official name of any of the thirteen British colonies that later formed the United States, yet nine of the titles of the thirteen articles on those colonies include "province". All nine articles should be moved and retitled. WCCasey (talk) 19:46, 10 January 2016 (UTC)

It's North Carolina, NOT North-Carolina

I moved the article back. Discuss such a move first. Regards, GenQuest "Talk to Me" 21:05, 8 March 2019 (UTC)

Government

I added a government section with references. Still looking for more references on positions, other than the governor. I believe the lower house was called the House of Burgess, according to at least one reference. There doesn't seem to be any articles on the Councilors or delegates to the NC House of Burgess on Wikipedia.

There should also be some discussion of settlers coming down the great wagon trail in the 1700s.

HMS Cruizer

Lieutcoluseng, first, thanks for all your great work on this article. I am bringing up a minor issue related to the HMS Cruizer. I have reasons to believe that the boat in question was HMS Cruizer (1752), obviously still a red link. I'd prefer either the red link to the specific ship or no link at all. I don't believe the current link, to this list of Cruizers provides any helpful info or context to readers. Would you disagree?

As far as reasons go, the 1752 ship is the only one listed at the wiki list that would have been active at the time. There's also our currently cited source, which mentions Captain Francis Parry. He is listed as the captain of the 1752 ship at this page. I recognize that none of that is great Wikipedia reasoning, but it's what I got! Firefangledfeathers (talk) 20:37, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
