I was a major proselytizer for them and got many young people started. One of these 2 things would happen: 1. the first-time user would get violently ill and never touch it again or 2. would get addicted and never stop. In fact I'm the only one I know who ever was able to quit. That was in 1977. Its effect on those who are able to stomach them is like everything any amphetmaine would cause, PLUS a unique physical euphoria that is more powerful than any other recreational stimulant I have ever used. Benzedrex inhalers are a wickedly addictive, extremely dangerous product. I have known meth addicts who would choose benzedrex over pure methamphetaimine.

So go ahead and call me names for breaking wikipedia's protocol. I don't care.

Risks

Justin: Death can certainly result from injection of propylhexedrine, especially due to a poor extraction that leaves behind menthol and lavender oil, or via an overdose. Injecting a strong vasoconstrictor into one's vein or artery (without a medical reason for doing so) is profoundly unwise, and I heard somewhere that seven deaths have been attributed to injecting propylhexedrine. jks: I won't argue that intravenous injections can be dangerous if performed incorrectly but if you are going to talk about something as serious as risk of death, you better cite it. Hearing it "somewhere" isn't grounds for changing a wiki page unless "somewhere" can be accessed by other wikipedia users. - Justin 10:18, 18 October 2006

effects

The article seems to identify the "high" of stimulants to being purely the ability to stay awake without sleep. Although this does seem to be a question of the precise meaning of an imprecise slang term, I think most would agree that a stimulant high is not simply the physiological consequence of staying awake, but the perceived feelings and sensations.

Other effects

After browsing some various forums, many people are reporting that this drug induces effects very similar to adderall and ritalin for aiding in focus and concentration. Some people have gone as far as to say that propylhexedrine is just as good as, if not better than some stimulants such as ritalin for alleviating symptoms similar to ADHD.
