I have done my best, people!
As a new contributor to Wikipedia I have done my best to provide factual information on what is a £1 billion UK industry. I am unable to find any reference information outside of the industry itself, but have provided information from the industry' recognised Trade Associations. (Neither of which are 'for profit' organisations.) International markets vary in their sales channel structures & cultures, but I have insufficient knowledge to write factually. I have spotted that the US market is covered under 'Promotional Items'. The USA entry has numerous references from PPAI, which is a Trade Association equivalent to Promota & BPMA I have quoted. Interestingly elements of my original article now appear on the 'Promotional Items' page, but I did not put them there?! It would be a shame if my entry from Promotional Merchandise was deleted, but I am unsure how much more I can improve it. David Sourcing (talk) 05:15, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
As has already been highlighted there is quite a bit of work to be done on this article as it's a bit of a mess following the merge, and neither article was that well done to begin with. David Sourcing above has obviously done a good job as far as he could but it's a big task overall.
I have quite a lot of experience and knowledge of this industry (primarily in Australia, but I also have a good understanding of the industry internationally). I would like to put some time into further developing this article, however as another rookie editor not overly up with syntax etc it would be good if someone more experienced in Wikipedia editing could do some splitting up into logical sections. I am then happy to work through improving each section, which may also help encourage others to become involved.MatthewCummins (talk) 11:05, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
No response to my above question on splitting into sections? Are there no expert editors familar with this subject who can at least do the sectioning? If no response I will do my best to work out the markup for this and hope I do not bring down the wrath of the Wikipedia Gods! MatthewCummins (talk) 11:34, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

I would like to add a reference re the BPMA and use of Market Research they supply to Suppliers and Distributors. I had put a link to this on our website at: http://www.redbows.co.uk/why-promotional-merchandise-works. The page is based on the 2013 BPMA Market Research. The edit was rejected but I think it is valid and more so than the reference cited #3 which is a link to a promotional merchandise distributor blog which only partly covers the research. I have recently published the above handbook on Promotional Merchandise and feel that it could provide a useful link to content on this page. Would this be a useful addition?
The Promotional Merchandise Handbook
Within the handbook I have detailed:
Chapter 1 – Promotional Merchandise and Marketing: introduction, industry background, the UK market. Chapter 2 – Strategic Promotional Marketing: marketing tools, key success factors and technology trends. Chapter 3 – The Production Process: artwork, origination, printing, fulfilment, packaging, delivery and reviews. Appendices A-D – industry links, BPMA market research, projects checklist, information on Redbows.
I don't want to add it and then find that I have not observed Wikipedia's guidelines which are a little daunting to me.
