Refactored
I refactored this from Certification. See talk there. —Quarl (talk) 2006-01-12 10:29Z
removal from ELT section
I have removed the following as unencyclopedic. It has no references, and is written in the style of a how-to manual. If anyone wants to clean it up, I would be happy to contribute here.
- There are other, independent, providers of certification in this field, and many of them are equivalent to Cambridge/UCLES and Trinity. However, there are also many independent providers who do little more than provide a piece of paper with the qualification and candidate's name, in exchange for their fee. It is worth checking into the legitimacy of such providers, if only for the future's sake - there are efforts being made to have the CELTA/DELTA, and Trinity equivalents, recognized by governmental bodies.
- Because, in fact, qualification requirements of the schools and employers of teaching staves are not as much an issue as are issues regarding the issuance of working permits in the countries where these teachers wish to work. In many countries, there are no governmental requirements whatsoever, and in other places, teaching certification is considered irrelevant and the only requirement is a baccalaureate degree - in any subject. Therefor, it is perhaps wise to have a university degree, but also a TESOL certificate from a respected and verifiable provider.

Is it time for a SPLIT ?
Are the Computer technology & Business sections getting big enough to achieve their own pages ? What are your thoughts ? May I propose Professional certification (Computer technology) & Professional certification (Business) with Professional certification act as the disambiguation as well as keep the remainder, until such time as the remainders warrent their own pages ? Exit2DOS2000•T•C• 04:22, 5 September 2007 (UTC) not feeling bold tonight
I think this is a good idea as it would add clarity, the current page is quite long. --Curuxz 14:11, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
Tonight I did feel bold. The split has been done on a Basic level, now all 3 need fleshing out a bit more. Exit2DOS2000•T•C• 08:29, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- Having been cleaning up Category:Professional certification, I have now found (IMHO) enough material to properly work the Health sciences section into a stand alone article. please see Article and {{template}} for perticulars and give feedback on your opinion. List of credentials
Since the "See also" at the bottom directs the reader to a more comprehensive list of certifications, I propose that the list currently in the article be substantially shortened. The types of credentials in certain areas can be discussed, but there is no need for simple lists. Especially since users who work in certain areas will keep adding theirs to the list. (I'm not discounting their area, I'm just saying the the list should be maintained on the list page) Iulus Ascanius (talk) 17:04, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
BCS Spam
"The British Computer Society (BCS) is the leading body for those working in IT. With a world-wide membership now over 60,000 members in over 100 countries, BCS is the qualifying body for Chartered IT Professionals (CITP). The BCS was incorporated by Royal Charter in 1984."
Reads like a press release, no? Given the fact that the number of people who hold A+ certifications outnumbers the BCS membership (per the figure above) by a factor of 12, I fail to see how BCS is "the leading body for those working in IT." Deleted. Ravaet (talk) 10:55, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
new link/info
I just wanted to make sure this is appropriate before editing. I would like to add info on the number of certifications in the overview section and a web site (www.associationexecs.com) to the links section. The link goes to a web page with info on associations and their certifications. CBIS2008 (talk) 15:46, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- I have somewhat of a reservation because it is a commercial site, but being able to search acronyms is useful from an educational standpoint, so I am OK with it. But we should also mention http://www.asaecenter.org/. Iulus Ascanius (talk) 16:03, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
Professional Certifications Portals
Currently there are so many professional certification websites/portals that serves the public by bringing all professional certifications of different area of specializations at one place like [www.certopedia.com] or certain professional certification falling under a specific area of specializations in a website like [www.gocertify.com] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Raed79 (talk • contribs) 14:02, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
