Complaint

I've added the technical template. This article uses a lot of terms like "ADs" or "teamsters" that film-industry insiders know but are very cryptic to outsiders. Rhakan (talk) 03:28, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

Questions

Here are some questions that came to my mind while reading the article:

• How many PAs work for one film? (I know that probably varys a lot but I can't even figure out the range)
• Are they trained or qualified in any way?

Mass com class article critique LaraLegath

I felt that is article was vague and did not do the best job informing me of the topic at hand. At some parts I still feel lost at exactly what production assistants do because they article didn't go into further detail and used very few sources or cited evidence to back up most of the claims the article makes. For instants the broad statement "Production assistants on films are sometimes attached to individual actors or filmmakers." is never collaborated on or goes further into depth about why this is the case. This can also be seen when listing the different kinds of Production assistants are listed and only a few of them are explained. To make this article stronger over all more citations would have to be used, the jobs needs to be explained better by using sources. This which would not only give the reader a better idea of the job but also give them sources to guide them in the right direction when researching the topic. Article Critique for Mass Comm David.schoen

Many facts listed on the “Production Assistant” Wikipedia page are not referenced with a clear citation and there were few references on it. It is a neutral page but not all quotes may be entirely truthful since there are few citations. There is extreme bias on the portion about “Set PAs” since it claims they are usually the first ones in and the last ones out, as if they are the most hardworking job within the production of a film. That quote may be skewed to shine a positive light on the position. Most information in the “Production Assistant” link seem neutral but the page does not provide many citations and bias is noted among a few sentences when implied. After reading the page, it looks like viewpoints are over-represented to provide an abundance of information. For example, many Production Assistants from Canada are described, but not ones within the United States. The two listed references do not work, as the first one is not descriptive and the second one is outdated, not even willing to open. I think much of the information is current, but the article could talk more about a PA’s salary, a PA’s part in the finalized version of a film/tv show, and what the differences are in PAs internationally. --David.schoen (talk) 19:59, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

Regarding the Production Assistant (PA) article on Wikipedia, one of the most important things I can add on the page are reliable sources. Since there are little sources within the entire web article, I’d like to back up many claims listed on the page. I can also add more information on the difference between a PA in America and a PA in Canada. The article is very Canadian-based, and there is hardly any information on American PAs. Additionally, I’d like to include some references to PAs in other international countries with a major film industry. Countries in Europe and South America have vast filmmaking industries, and the article does not mention PAs around the world. The article is not specific enough because it mentions Canadian PAs and only alludes to American PAs. Lastly, I’d like to add as little bias as possible when entering this data into the web article because there seems to be small hints of prejudice in the Wikipedia page.

Article Draft for Mass Comm course - please review and give feedback (Sandbox Draft and Link - Homework for 10/9) David.schoen

Hello, readers. I am currently working on a new section for the "Production Assistant" page on Wikipedia.

The section is centered around the tasks that PAs are typically asked to complete.

In the section, I plan to compare and contrast the tasks between a union and non-union PA.

I also plan to describe these tasks with reliable evidence to support the claims and eliminate any bias in the section.

Feel free to give constructive criticism or any other kind of feedback to improve the proposed section. Thanks!

Addition of the Publication Subheading LaraLegath

I have added a section about the role of PAs in the publication businesses. The article was heavily focused on production assistants in film, when really PAs can be found in any field that creates media or produces content. My addition now adds a new view of the types for PAs there are and explains the new variety of roles that PA's handle on the job.
