- Grabbing for a review. Aoba47 (talk) 02:10, 25 March 2018 (UTC)
- Lead
- Please add ALT text for the image.
- Done.
- Do you think that the phrase “high-school equivalency programs” should be linked to General Educational Development to better illustrate the topic to unfamiliar readers?
- Not in this case, as it's referring to equivalency programs worldwide, whereas the GED is just the US program.
- I would elaborate on the reasons for the opposition in the lead to avoid potential POV issues. The information from the “Opposition” section of the article should be better reprated in the lead.
- Expanded.
- For this sentence (In the US, it is estimated that for every dollar spent on prison education, $4 to $5 is saved due to decreases in crime.), I would link dollar.
- Done.
- Images
- This is not a requirement for the GA review, but it may be helpful to add more images to the body of the article
- Unfortunately that's the only relevant image I could find on commons. I searched Flickr but couldn't find any free images there either.
- History
- For this part ( In Finland legislation), there should be a comma after “Finland” and before “legislation”.
- Done.
- I would cut this part (In the US in the early 19th century,) to (In the early 19th century US,).
- Done.
- Do you think there should subsection titles to divide the history of prison education in Europe and the history of prison education in North America.
- Done.
- You use the Oxford comma in this case (Massachusetts, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Illinois, and Minnesota) and other areas, but there are several instance where you do not use the Oxford comma. Please be consistent either way.
- Removed the two instance that I could find of it being used.
- Is there any information on the history of prison education in areas outside of Europe and the U.S./Cananda? Is there anything for the following areas: Latin/Central America, Africa, Asia, and Australia?
- The history of prison education seems to a be a topic not widely covered outside of the US. I've done extensive searching on the subject in Australia, and having found no information, I'm actually considering writing an academic journal on the subject to fill the gap in the literature.
- That sounds really cool. Good luck with it! Aoba47 (talk) 19:21, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
- Literacy rates and available programs
- For this part (The recidivism rate among prisoners in Western countries is high), I would link “Western countries” to Western world.
- Done.
- For this part (, within three years of release seven out of ten), add a comma between “release” and “seven”.
- Done.
- Numbers under ten should be spelled out (i.e. “has a recidivism rate of 4% for people who only attended the course and 2.5% for those who completed it” and “educational programs were 9% less likely to return to prison” and “those who undertook education courses were 7% less likely to return to prison”). I would look throughout the entire article for this.
- Think I got them all. I've left numbers with decimals in place (I.e 1.9% to 2.6%) as I think it's much easier for readers than spelling it out.
- For this part (A 2000 study in Texas), could you specify where in Texas? Was it a university?
- Clarified.
- Cost and financial benefits
- Please link £ on its first use.
- Done.
- Funding allocation and prevalence
- I could not find any major issues.
- Opposition
- For this sentence (Other arguments against the practice is that prisoners do not deserve the right to be educated, and doing so is being "soft on crime”.), put the references in the correct order.
- Done.
- Potential gaps in information
- Is there any information on prison education in Latin/Central America, Africa, and Asia? The article does not address any of these regions.
- I've since expanded my search, and have now added a little information from Singapore, Kyrgyzstan and Morocco, as well as some statistics from Latin America. During my searches I stumbled on information from Belarus, Ukraine and Germany as well, and have also added this information to the article.
- Final comments
- Great work with this article. I hope that this helps. I will pass this once my comments are addressed. Aoba47 (talk) 01:28, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Aoba47. I've made replies to everything. :) Freikorp (talk) 11:38, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
- Verdict
- Thank you for addressing everything and great work with this. Your work on this article definitely inspires me to work on projects outside of my normal work on here. Hope you have a great week. Aoba47 (talk) 19:21, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
