Expansion ideas
I've been thinking of ways to expand and better organize the content for this page. Here is what I have come up with:
- Move the list of characters to its own page (List of Prison Break Characters).
- Create an episode guide on a separate page (List of Prison Break Episodes).
- On the main page create two new sections: Breakout Overview and Conspiracy Overview, which will talk about the basics of their respective topics without going into too much detail (we can save the detail for the episode guide).
The big job here is the episode guide. I would like to break each episode into two main sections: Inside the Prison, and The Conspiracy. Most of the time these two stories are separate of each other, and if they do overlap it's just for a few minutes each episode. For example, when LJ or Veronica go visit Lincoln that's an overlap. In that case we can mention the event in both sections. I think just about everything that happens in the show can fit under these two categories.
I would like to start the episode guide AFTER the final episode this fall airs, which is Monday November 28. The reason for this is because some of Michael's break out plan is still a mystery and I think we can best talk about the plan if we have a full grasp of everything that happens. Jtrost 20:19, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
Sounds like a good plan. To add something, as each episode ends with a cliffhanger or serious problem of some sort, each episode in the guide have a mention of the new difficulty. Odd Man Out would have Lincoln in the SHU; And Then There Were 7 would have Michael realize the break team is too large, etc. Jclinard 20:43, 22 November 2005 (UTC)
LJs e-mail address and the telephone number tattooed on Michael's forearm (hidden in the playing cards) are both valid and provide either an e-mail with a hidden message response, or a voice recording of Nika. Should we add that to trivia? Jclinard 22:48, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
- I just rewatched the scenes where it shows the playing cards, and all I saw were the cards that had a Chicago area phone number. There was no e-mail address. Jtrost 23:09, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
- The email address was in a different episode. I'll have to look it up. The phone number on the playing cards works and gives a recording of Nika. 67.136.242.106 04:16, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
List of characters
What do people think about the way the list of characters is divided into good guys, bad guys etc.? There's a spoiler tag there, but what of people who want information about the main characters without knowing at a glance who the bad people are. In particular, I'm thinking of the Vice President, whose involvement is a twist in the story. Whilst I certainly think she should be listed (and her entry should say what it does now), I think it's a bit too much of a spoiler to have her mentioned as a bad guy in the Table of Contents.
Does anyone have a case for leaving it as it is, or should I just go ahead and change the listing of characters so it doesn't give things away quite so much? KeithD (talk) 19:22, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
I would personally like to see it broken down as follows: The Break Team (Michael, Lincoln, Abruzzi, Sucre, T-Bag, C-Note, and Westmoreland), Other Inmates (Haywire, Tweener, Gus), Prison Staff (Warden Pope, Sara, Bellick), Outside Supporters (Nick, Veronica, LJ), and Outside Enemies (V.P. Caroline Reynolds, Agent Kellerman, Agent Hale, Quinn). Jclinard 22:09, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
- I like that idea. However, the previews for tomorrow's episode look like someone is going to be kicked out of the break team. Should that person be listed with them, or with the other prisoners? Jtrost 00:03, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
- It would probably be easier to wait until after the episode "Odd Man Out" to see what happens to the break team. If somebody is removed from the break team due to death / serious injury / self-removal, then I move them to the Other Inmates category, with a note that the person was a part of the break team until the event. I've also seen artwork purporting to be from season 2 which hint that Nika (Michael's wife) is an ongoing and important chracter to the second half of the story, in which case she should get her own mention in Outside Supporters (the category is problematic as far as name; it simply refers to the characters who are aiding and supporting the efforts at freeing Lincoln. Nick and Veronica are the legal team; LJ is moral support, and Nika had done a few things for Michael without really knowing what was going on. Outside simply means they are outside the prison walls). Perhaps Outside Enemies should be called "Conspiracy Members". Jclinard 01:35, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
- Conspiracy members sound fine. However, I would like to hold off oin putting Nika under the outside supporters until more episodes air. While she did give Michael the keycard, she also told Bellick about it, so she is just as suppoertive and she is a liability. I'd like to see where her character goes before adding her somewhere. Jtrost 01:46, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
- Agreed on Nika. She's done two things for Michael so far (he called in her in "Sleight of Hand" ; the phone number on the playing cards was her phone number) saying he told her he might need her regarding Fibonacci. In "And Then There Were Seven" she smuggled the credit card to him). Also, what do people think of a separate section for Michael's tattoo, listing all the components of it that have factored in. "Allen" featured the mirror image for the part number of the bolt, the allen wrench, and toilet names, and the hexagon for sizing. "Cute Poison" featured the overturned jug with the words providing (more or less) the chemical formulate for Copper Sulfate. "English, Fitz, or Percy" featured the street names for the escape route. "Riots, Drills, and The Devil" had the devil tattoo which indicated structural weakness points. "Sleight of Hand" featured the phone number hidden in the playing cards. Jclinard 02:02, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
- I really like the idea of adding Michael's tattoo to his profile. Jtrost 20:19, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
C-Note
C-Note isn't the final member as one can gather from the title of episode 11 "And then there was seven" so I edited that part out
Question about the Infobox
In the infobox there's a section for the dates that program aired. Since the series will be broken up into two parts should we put the original run as "August 2005 - (Unknown Month) 2006" or do "August - November 2005" and then when the new episodes premier in the Spring put those months separately? Jtrost 23:49, 22 November 2005 (UTC)
- Jtrost, your edit to the infobox was showing up incorrectly because you weren't using the correct code. Instead of the dates showing up in the infobox, they showed up at the top of the page under the title. Because of this, I reverted your edits. Also, I have fixed the infobox to correctly show that "Prison Break" is still on the air. The last show may have aired on Nov 28, but the show is not cancelled, therefore the orginal run is still going on. -- Simpatico 06:53, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
- Since this is only a one season show, I think that allows us to be more lenient with these dates, and below Jclinard agreed. I have corrected the formatting to resemble the date format of the Family Guy article. Thanks for letting me know the date was at the top of the page. I completely overlooked it. Jtrost 17:09, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
- This is not a one season show. Where did you get that idea? In fact, the producers have indicated that the entire show has been planned out through two seasons (with plenty of ideas for subsequent ones), and with the success of the show it's extremely likely it will be picked up for a second season at least. The episodes that aired in the fall were the first half of the first season; what's airing in March is the second half of the first season. The only reason it was split is because Fox didn't have a place for it when 24 comes back in January. In any case, the proper way to indicate the Original Run of a show that is still on the air is "First episode air date — present." See the pages of other shows for examples of this (House, Bones, The O.C., The Simpsons, Scrubs, Lost, Grey's Anatomy, need I go on?). Until the show is officially cancelled, that's what the infobox should show. -- Simpatico 09:00, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
FOX referred to the first 13 episodes as the "Fall Season". I'd break it up like that; Fall and Spring seasons. Jclinard 18:11, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
Guide
Hey, I was thinking that we should have a whole new page for the Episodes. Each episode will have a short summary of what happend. Sounds good eh? Madin10 20:45, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
- I was planning on doing the same thing (see "Expansion Ideas" above), but have been too busy to sit down and actually do it. I would like to see something similar to The Lost Episode Guides. If you put something up I, and I'm sure others, will add on and contribute. Jtrost 23:06, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Started
I have started a new page for the Episodes.... Prison Break's Episode Guide come help and add. Madin10 20:39, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
- Are you planning on doing any further work on this guide? If not I will merge the content back into this article. Jtrost 18:50, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
- I feel this should be linked to the main prison break page, even though it is not yet finished. Most thing's on Wikipedia are not yet finished, so what makes this any different? How can people contribute if they cant find it on the main page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Swerty (talk • contribs) 20:29, January 17, 2006
- It's true too, nobody edit's it, because they cant find it. the only link that links to it is this discussion board. please allow it to be on the main page of prison break! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Swerty (talk • contribs) 00:14, January 19, 2006
- Swerty, please sign your comments by typing -- ~~~~ after each comment. That way we know who's talking. :) I agree with you about needing a link in order to get more editors, so I've added it back in. — simpatico hi 19:17, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
TWoP
What unique content does this website offer that makes it notable? From what I can tell all it has is episode summaries and a fan forum, which is exactly what the other websites already listed have. Jtrost 22:44, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
- It's a well-known site that pays professional writers (many of them are journalists) to write humorous and often biting recaps of certain shows. The forums are very strictly moderated and have very high standards of discussion - not your average fan forum. It's kind of an honor for a show to be chosen as a show for TWOP to recap - it means people either really like it or it's fertile snark material. It's worth a mention on here because no other site on the web offers such hilarious and well-written content for television shows, and the forums have a quality of discussion sorely lacking from most boards. And as you can see, Television Without Pity has it's own wiki page, so it's considered notable here. -- simpatico hi 17:53, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
Plot Holes
T-Bag is a sicko convicted of the rape of children (boys and girls) and has attempted to murder at least one person (Abruzzi). However, all indications are that he was poor, and didn't have access to a top-notch attorney like Abruzzi did. Lincoln, on the other hand, was convicted of a high-profile murder, which would have generated a lot of commotion and access to legal talent T-Bag wouldn't have had access to. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jclinard (talk • contribs) February 26, 2006
- It isn't a plot hole. Some juries sentence people to death, others to life in prison. It's how the system works. Jtrost (T | C | #) 13:49, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
haha THAT was the best "plot hole" you could come up with? 82.38.203.214 16:04, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
Trivia
Quote: "They base the show on Michael Mooneys Epic Tales, rumour has it that Prison Break is Based on a true rumour. Also Michael Mooney Jr is creating another Epic Series "School Break" Staring Michael Mooney Jr as Michael Scofield and Jacob Healy as Lincolm Burrows." End quote.
Corroboration? This seems more like rumor rather than factual reporting. Some Google keyword searches aren't turning up anything similar. ZoneSeek 16:33, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
Deus Ex voice?
The voice of Michael (Wentworth) reminds me of JC Denton. It's eery. But imdb says the voice actor for Deus Ex is a different guy. Any thoughts? - Richardcavell 07:35, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
Lincoln and Michael's Father
I wanted to add Michael and Lincoln's father to the list of characters, especially after the events of "The Key", unfortunately I can't find anything to put for a name other than the implied first name Burrows. Anyone know what it might be? --T smitts 17:32, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
List of deaths?
I was thinking about adding a list with all the deaths in it, spoiler warnings, obviously. Should I do this?- Puppet125, April 29, 2006 1:04 PM
- I don't think there have been enough deaths yet.--Andeh 05:03, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
I was going to include minor characters like Leticia Barris and Lisa Rix.- Puppet125, July 22

The Company
The company is mentioned many times throughout this article and the episode and character guide. An article needs to be made about it to explain what it is and what it's goal are.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.152.40.63 (talk • contribs) 01:25, 17 May 2006

mobisode wtf?
The word mobisode is a horrible abuse of the English language. I thought Dr Who "Tardisodes" were a horrible description, now each network contrives their own name for the damned things. Could you please find some way to a less contrived marketing gibberish? Isn't this basically just another type of podcast? There must be some generic name to better describe the damned things.
HDTV Info
Where's the HDTV information? Shouldn't this information be standard by now?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.46.186.161 (talk • contribs) 21:54, 1 June 2006

Slang
Maybe there should be a smal headline for prison slang? Shaw for meal and i think they call their DIY-knives for "a shaq". I think this is a great idea, but i don't know enough about the subject to write anything about it...—Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.166.240.174 (talk • contribs) 2 June 2006
- I think that's a good idea. However, many of the terms may already be covered in Wikipedia e.g. the knives you mentioned - shank. If anyone is interested, the features page of the official Prison Break website has some of the prison slangs used in episodes 1 to 5. Ladida 05:19, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
Fansite
Hi, I would like everyone's opinion on the addition of a fansite link that keeps reappearing after it has been removed by myself and an administrator. From what I understand from Wikipedia rules (namely Wikipedia:External_links#Occasionally_acceptable_links), a link to a fansite is allowed only if it offers a significant amount of information that is not already supplied by this article or any of the existing "valid" external links and references. Although I understand that this site www.prisonbreakmanhunt.com is under development, it does not fulfil any of the requirements that allows it to be added into the "external links" section. At present time, I think that the anonymous user who added that site on to the list of links is trying to advertise their site. Furthermore, I've been notified by that particular user that he/she maintains this site and according to Wikipedia:External_links#Links to normally avoid, that in the article's best interest, links to "a website that you own or maintain" should not be listed. Does everyone agree? Please state your reasons here. Until we've reached a consensus here to keep the link on the page, it will be removed as per the rules stated above. -- Ladida 00:59, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
- Cmon were all fans here, Ladida cut it off, you'll be fine just leave it please. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.70.18.41 (talk • contribs) 03:27, 25 June 2006
- I agree with Ladida on this. While I agree there are some circumstances when fansites should be added, this is not one of them. And if we do add a fansite then everyone will want to add their fansites, and Wikipedia is not a repository of links. Tntnnbltn 08:59, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
May i ask why the prison break wiki is allowed there? it has no content at all.. but you guys delete the "fan site"
- Links to Interwikis are allowed. If you are disappointed with the lack of content, please add more content to it. Jtrost (T | C | #) 18:47, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
Season synopses
Why do the season synopses read like teasers? We are not in the publicity business. It is not our aim to encourage people to watch. A synopsis should be just that: a complete overview of the season from its start to its conclusion. --Oldak Quill 22:04, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
Teasers are better than spoilers. Episodes summaries are good so long as you dont deliberately spoil everything. -- Anon

a bit of grammar hairsplitting
"The story revolves around a man who was sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit and the lengths that his brother will go to save him."
Isn't it "... the lenghts that his brother will go to to save him." ? We can also rephrase the whole sentence by merely substituting "saving" for "save". --User:Gandalf the White
- Oh, I've just spotted the same oddity and changed it to "to to". Wikipeditor 16:07, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
Series Renamed?
If you follow reference 3, linked to the statement that for Season 2 the show will "not be renamed", the reference clearly contradicts this statement. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.111.8.103 (talk • contribs) 13:54, 2 August 2006
Nick Savrinn
Anyone else thing he should be under main cast instead of reccuring/guests? --GoHawks4 16:24, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- No, I don't. If there's one recurring players who might qualify for that, it's Warden Pope. He was featured prominently in many episodes (the episode "English, Fitz, or Percy", for example, focused mainly on him) and is featured in most of the promotional cast photos for season 1.--T smitts 21:25, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- Main cast normally applies to the cast members who appear in the opening credits. Recurring and guest stars are often mentioned when the episode starts or at the end. -- Ladida 13:51, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
Veronica's Death
Should Veronica's death that takes place tonight be mentioned do u guys think?
- Do you have a source for this? Also, as she is set to appear in series 2 (or at least it is heavily implicit in the episode guide), it is incorrect to put 'Season One' next to her in the list of characters. Djdannyp 12:10, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
It has infact aired and I think that, it should be noted.
Merge with Prison Break (The Plan)
I Oppose a merge, said article is pretty long and well writen and warrants its own page. MatthewFenton (talk • contribs) 11:16, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

- Thanks for opposing a merge, I only wrote the article because I thought it warranted its own page, as the plan can be observed as a single entity seperate from its contributing factors in each episode. I split it into phase one and two because there are two distinct routes that the escape takes. The initial plan was changed when then pipe was refitted.....plus it splits it nicely and roughly into half (as it was divided up into the episodes with the mini cliff hanger, etc). Thanks too for saying it was well written :). Oh, and evidently i oppose the merge. Djdannyp 21:18, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
- I oppose with the provision that the article be renamed. Prison Break (The Plan) isn't a very encyclopedic title. -Roofus 23:20, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Why does this needs its own article? It's basically a copy and paste of parts of the episode guide. It seems redundant to me. Jtrost (T | C | #) 00:34, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- I assure you there was no copy and pasting of the episode guide, it was written 100% from scratch. Djdannyp 06:01, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- Then let me rephrase what I said. How is this different from the episode guide, which also describes the plan? Why does this need a separate article? Jtrost (T | C | #) 14:50, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- You've almost answered your own question. The episode guides are just that: guides to the episodes, that relates to character development, character relationships, the conspiracy theory, prison life and other things as well as the plan. My article is dedicated solely to the plan and to tell its own story. As other have said, the plan is a big enough thing to deserve its own article - particularly if "The Company" has its own article. Whilst someone could go and read all 23 episode guies and to find the pieces relating to the plan and put them together in their mind, they can simply read this one article and see the plan in its entirety. Besides, the plan as seen in its entirety makes a pretty good read! Djdannyp 14:56, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- Exactly why it warrants its own article, great work :)! MatthewFenton (talk • contribs) 15:00, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
John Wayne Gacy Trivia
Under "trivia" it says many scenes were filmed in John Wayne Gacy's cell and references an article that backs that claim. But the wikipedia article on Joliet Prison (which is apparently where the show is filmed) says this:
"Often confused with Stateville Correctional Center, which is also located in Joliet, Illinois, it is in fact a completely seperate prison. It is Stateville, not Joliet, which has the famous "panopticon" roundhouse, and where John Wayne Gacy was housed."
Yet, the article on John Wayne Gacy says his cell was at Joliet.
So was Gacey really housed in Joliet? Which one is right? --Jacob 03:55, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
