@Chrzwzcz: Since you refuse or are unable to discuss your lame revert war here, I'll start: just because other articles are "evasive" doesn't mean we can't provide the reader with historical context and educate them about past names. The fact that other film articles don't link to the historical article is irrelevant, the same conversation could be had about them. Whether the castles are still standing is irrelevant; the article is talking about the filming that took place in the past. I'm willing to change to "Czech lands", I'm not the one who inserted the Czech Socialist Republic link in the first place- but we're not here to WP:CENSOR and whitewash and protect the reader from fact. Look what is linked to CSR. Politics, politics and politics. Nobody was born in CSR, nothing happened in CSR, only this fairy tale was shot in CSR - is it fact worth saving and educating?! Evasive formulation is used because of "banned"=noncommon Czechia. "Czech lands" are not good, it is used mainly for more historic events. What does "Socialist" republic to do with this movie? If someone want to visit these castles, it is important there they are now. The paragraph is about filming locations more than filming process in the past in concrete part of former federative socialist republic. Other options? "Czechoslovakia", "Czech part of Czechoslovakia", "Bohemia and Moravia". Chrzwzcz (talk) 19:37, 16 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Again, you are unable to address the main concerns. What links there now is irrelevant. Wikipedia articles are often in need of fixing; sometimes, links to articles should be sharpened. WP:GOFISHING. You may not like the word "Socialist", but that was the name of the place where it was filmed. "Bohemia and Moravia" is fine if you can verify that's where the castles are. Ribbet32 (talk) 21:06, 16 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think this article should be the 1st one to begin your "fixing" which I disagree with. It is perfectly OK when naming places to tie them with timeless non-political names (if it is not important to state the formal name which in this case it is certainly not), it is not some kind of propaganda movie where it would matter. Czech Republic unfortunately lacks common short name hence the evasive formulation used in many articles, Wiki would gladly use current short name (if available) for this occasion. The first version you wrote stated that it was shot all around Czechia, so I guess you believe it and have proof. Actually it was shot on Bohemian and Moravian castles, not Slovak, but Czechoslovak wouldn't hurt... Chrzwzcz (talk) 21:27, 16 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Again, this "evasive" concept you keep using as if it's good that Wikipedia is trying to hide something- we're not here to do that. Second, calling a place by its name does not imply propaganda. All country names are political to a degree. Who says Czech Republic is not political? It is certainly political to be republican. I never said or thought it was shot in Slovakia. Hence why I wrote it was shot in Czechia. Ribbet32 (talk) 21:32, 16 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You misunderstood it with the evasiveness and propaganda. If "evasive" is too harsh I can say "emergency" or "circumlocutional" or "we-have-no-better-and-shorter-choice" variant. Czech Republic IS political name, but at least current... to understand where the castles are. If Czechia was common, 99 % of Czech Republics would be gone. I didn't say you said it was shot in Slovakia. Chrzwzcz (talk) 22:04, 16 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
This is really weird. Referring to a historical place is not an "emergency." "Circumlocational" is the same as "evasive" and I've already explained why that's wrong. The need to use a "current" name to describe historical events is also wrong for reasons I've already explained. I'm changing to Bohemia and Moravia just to shut down this circus. Ribbet32 (talk) 22:14, 16 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Again misunderstood and twisted. It was not historical events, it is list of locations. There was no need for unfamiliar formal names of only part of former federation to describe where the shooting locations are. You could also write it was shot in multiple Czech castles to avoid everything said here. Chrzwzcz (talk) 22:40, 16 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
