According to the History Directorate of the Greek Army, Major General Prince Andrew, commanding officer of II Greek Army Korp since 15 July 1921 until 18 September 1921:
- was ordered on 26 August 1921 to attack the opposite turkish positions, if and when the III Greek Army Korp would be under attack, yet fear to happen[1].

Major General Prince Andrew asked to be removed from his command
[edit]on 28 August 1921, after relieved his chief of staff, but Leutenent General Papoulas, commanding chief of the Minor Asia Greek Army denied. On 30 August 1921, following orders, II Greek Army Korp retreated behind the west bank of river Sakaray.
