'The' or 'a' ?
[edit]'The President' or 'a President'? There seems to be inconsistency in the article. Would it make sense to standardise on 'the' ? 31.52.164.71 (talk) 09:16, 17 September 2018 (UTC)

- Support per WP:OVERPRECISION and WP:CONCISE. This simply reverts an undiscussed page move from 2017. There is no other article using the short title. WP:CONSISTENT with Presidential directive, Presidential Determination, Presidential memorandum and Executive order. - Station1 (talk) 06:48, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose. Is the President of the United States really the only president who makes proclamations? -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:55, 7 August 2019 (UTC)
- If there are others, that info could be added to the article under the proposed title. Station1 (talk) 21:47, 7 August 2019 (UTC)
- Support per nom and Station1. Colonestarrice (talk) 15:18, 7 August 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose. Embarrassingly US govt. centric. Eg http://www.bmb.gov.ph/elibrary/mainmenu-policies-52359/presidential-proclamation. Presidents everywhere, non state actors, two bit presidents in third world countries, make proclamations. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SmokeyJoe (talk • contribs) 12:05, 11 August 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose. Another case where I came to close the discussion but was sufficiently opinionated to contribute rather than administrate. I'm in agreement with those who observe that a) the US is not the only government with a President and b) assuming people should understand President means United States just smacks of "this is OUR encyclopedia, not the world's". I'm of the opinion that the best option is "United States presidential proclamation" ... lower-casing 'presidential' is consistent with the lower-casing used in the article body. Thanks. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 01:48, 12 August 2019 (UTC)
