Ref 140 link wrong
[edit]The link on ref 140 is not accurate. https://www.aei.org/publication/a-rogue-intelligence-state/ should be the link. 72.94.13.51 (talk) 18:39, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
Removed section "Prognosis"
[edit]This section of "crystal-balling" 6 years ago is pointless now. Keeping all this past guess work makes sense only if we find reputed sources which discuss these prognoses and compare with what actually happened. Politologists churn prognoses all year round. There is no reason in neither accumulating them in wikipedia, nor singling out a particular year. -M.Altenmann >t 03:12, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
Putin's "youth"?
[edit]Do we need the quote about Putin's "youth" in the lead? That seems like an odd opinion; Putin is a bald guy in his 60s, and few people would think of "youth" in relation to him. Tadeusz Nowak (talk) 13:03, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
Neutrality ?
[edit]I don't really understand where is the "criticism" about biased-medias (RussiaToday) or surveillance of population,
or even "cult personality" to some extent ... because the same things happen in Europe and USACite error: There are <ref>
tags on this page without content in them (see the help page).
and everywhere in the world.
Fact is there is not a single true democracy on Earth , all regimes are fatally authoritarian, kleptocracy, security oriented, with state propaganda and point of view ! and so on. Then Russia have its history and specificity , but fundamentally it s not different from rest of North countries. (and for South too, because they have been colonised at one pint or another by North) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.250.100.135 (talk) 22:54, 19 August 2015 (UTC)

- It might be true that some other state leaders are treated with a silkglove in Wikipedia. Nobody can claim Wikipedia has no bias, therefore I encourage you edit those articles as to reach the same standard (not level) of criticism. —Lappspira (talk) 09:13, 20 August 2015 (UTC)

Anthem
[edit]I don't think he restored the Soviet anthem, he restored the widely recognized tune with revised lyrics for the new circumstances, which I assume was the original legal act rather than a later adjustment to a true restoration, if somebody wants to hit that. 2600:8806:6400:88:2077:B866:8669:68D8 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 06:58, 26 November 2015 (UTC)

Requested move 2 February 2016
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: Moved. There seems to be enough support, and the argument that this is now about his presidency overall, and not just "Putinism", is a valid one. Putinism can be forked from the new page title if necessary. (non-admin closure) — Amakuru (talk) 17:25, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
Putinism → Presidency of Vladimir Putin –
The article started as a sorta-kinda slander of Putin, but by efforts of Putinists and neutral wikipedians it turned into his glory. So (Sorry for jokular irony in a serious matter). The article went a long way from being a POV fork to a relatively neutral description of Putin's deeds. Accordingly, I guess it is time to move the page into a neutral title, Presidency Vladimir Putin, by the way of Presidency of Bill Clinton and the likes. - üser:Altenmann >t 05:23, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
- One the face of it weak support Although Presidency of Bill Clinton and Clintonism are two articles, Presidency of Barack Obama and Obamaism, but otherwise sounds reasonable @Altenmann: I've added "of" to the RM, I assume lack of "of" was a typo? In ictu oculi (talk) 08:57, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
- Good point, and a new text for "Putinism" may be written as an article about the term, similar to Clintonism, as long as enough WP:RS found which discuss the term per se. - üser:Altenmann >t 13:25, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
- P.S. From what google shows, "Obamaism" is Obama's Bushism, not Clintonism. [1]. - üser:Altenmann >t 13:25, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose. The article is about Putinism; not about Putin's Presidency per se. --В²C ☎ 19:02, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
- Comment may be it was about Putinism, but now it is about presidency. And it is easier to move the whole page rather than cut-and-paste, for copyright compliance. - üser:Altenmann >t 05:54, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
- What does copyright compliance have to do with it? Go ahead and create a page on the presidency and edit accordingly. --В²C ☎ 16:33, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
- Copyright compliance comes into play because I have to move nearly all content from here to there. In article history it will look like as if I wrote the whole article my myself. Not to mention that I dont freaking care about Putin presidency to waste my time more than bare minimum. - üser:Altenmann >t 04:30, 4 February 2016 (UTC)

Presidencies of Vladimir Putin → Russia under Vladimir Putin – Makes sense; unlike Presidencies of Grover Cleveland, this article does not divide his two presidencies into separate sections. The problem with the link to the text of the decision of 9 June 2021 of the Moscow City Court in the case No.3а-1573/2021
[edit]At the moment, the link to the text of the decision of 9 June 2021 of the Moscow City Court in the case No.3а-1573/2021 (PDF file) (the last paragraph in subsection "Persecution of Navalny and mass protests") is inaccessible because of a blocking of the Team 29 website.
On 16 July 2021, the website of the Team 29 was blocked by Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media at the request of Prosecutor General of Russia.[1] According to official letter, Prosecutor General of Russia identifies the Team 29 to Czech nonprofit organization "Společnost Svobody Informace" which was designated undesirable on 29 June 2021.[2] The Team 29 doesn't agree with that but it has to make decision to dissolve itself because of risks involved with criminal prosecution under the article 284.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia against it's members. The Team 29 will delete it's digital archive including judicial documents. The Team 29 recommends to delete direct links to its documents because such links can be regarded as a participation in the activity of undesirable organization and be grounds for criminal prosecution.[3]
So, it is necessary to save the source, maybe through archiving or finding a replacement source. Please help. 5.129.59.116 (talk) 00:51, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
- The problem is solved. The source is saved. 5.129.59.116 (talk) 10:27, 19 July 2021 (UTC)

Putin invading Ukraine
[edit]This historical data needs to be covered. Editdone (talk) 11:31, 28 February 2022 (UTC)
- We will do it a little later. We need reliable sources with good analysis of the invasion. K8M8S8 (talk) 18:47, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
V Putin
[edit]I suggest his tittle is 'supreme head of state' and not president, since that is an American tittle. Maybe you could call him Tzar or despot, but something more accurate anyway. 82.5.26.124 (talk) 07:20, 17 September 2022 (UTC)

"mass genocide"
[edit]"Mass genocide" isn't a thing, it's just "genocide". Please change this in the last sentence of the intro. Kk.urban (talk) 23:12, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
This Wikipedia Page is Awesome
[edit]"Slavs under Vlad the Bad" I think you should've called it. He eats stolen Ukrainian children with drops of liberal tears for breakfast. I think Wikipedia is this bad not because of its rules, structure, management or financial interests, but because America itself is just so fucked and people are already so brainwashed. The sad thing is this page isn't even all that bad from what I can see with a quick scroll. It mentions his rise to power and his controversy, ok fair, but no one serious takes Wikipedia articles with these names serious when you've got an information war where military intelligence and Wikipedia officials talk openly about their cooperation - which is fine, but it gives us dumbed down titles like this and narratively charged language. 24.89.244.114 (talk) 02:25, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
