If the sources listed actually exist, please post a link or an ISBN or something. Mo-Al (talk) 04:58, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

They do exist but I'm not sure Russian chronicles or books published before 1941 had the ISBN. Will try to find a scan. Will this be enough to prove the sources?--Numulunj pilgae 15:28, 4 October 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Numulunj pilgae (talkcontribs)

The image captioned "Old Mokshan numerals" is wrong. The example given for 19 shows five single tally marks along with the numerals for 15. There should only be four single tally marks. This appears to be a simple mistake. Kylemech (talk) 18:14, 28 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Third paragraph starts randomly, "The wolf bone was excavated in Moravia." Disjointed sentences

[edit]

The third paragraph starts out like so:

"The wolf bone was excavated in Moravia. It is dated to about 30,000 years ago and has 55 tally marks. The Ishango Bone found in the Ishango region of what is today..."

This is poorly written, the two sentences seem to come out of nowhere and have no context before or after them. Might want to fix. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.41.25.113 (talk) 21:54, 22 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Moksha numerals

[edit]

The content on moksha numerals needs verification. The content was merged after Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Moksha numerals; at the time, another article on the moksha logographic system was deleted as an apparent hoax. All the sources cited for this tally system are old Russian-language sources, and at the AfD this was also suspected to be a hoax. I can't find any sources (other than Wikipedia mirrors) that mention these marks. Fences&Windows 12:41, 11 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I've deleted the paragraph. Valid sources or not, what was this relatively modern system doing in this article? (To undermine my own reasoning here, what is "prehistoric" must depend on how far back "history" goes in the particular region in question. Still, I don't believe it belongs here, definitely not at the top of this section, or with the excessive amount of details compared to other fra more notable examples.)-- (talk) 17:19, 19 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
