[edit]I object to the deletion as I have provided a cite to back up the validity of this song. The song and its origin is listed in the book by Nicholson on page 295, Appendix 5 "List of Compositions Composed or Co-composed by Billie Holiday." I believe this is sufficient proof that the song exists. I am also adding information about the publisher. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tal1962 (talk • contribs)
- That satisfies the requirement that it exist. It doesn't satisfy significant independent coverage. Read WP:NSONG; merely noting that it exists is insufficient. "Demos, mixtapes, bootlegs, promo-only, and unreleased albums are in general not notable; however, they may be notable if they have significant independent coverage in reliable sources." Coverage means more than "acknowledgement". —ShadowRanger (talk|stalk) 19:14, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- This song is already listed as part of her unrecorded work on her Wiki article, so it's not like people are completely unaware of it. But unless people have reviewed the song or otherwise done more than simply give basic descriptive info, it doesn't warrant its own article. —ShadowRanger (talk|stalk) 19:17, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
Your assertion that the ONLY source is the appendix is incorrect. The songs are mentioned in numerous biographies, as well as being available in sheet music form, as is indicated via the links I have provided. It is silly not to consider this information of merit as it is verifiable by no less than half a dozen reliable sources.
I will add references to these sources. Other than this, I am unaware of any other means short of playing the songs for you that they exist.
Furthermore, her other songs have been given their own page based on the fact that they are unrecorded. You are incorrect in assuming that many know of these un-recorded songs. I am the one who listed them in her bio, otherwise they would not be there. Wikipedia is supposed to be more than just a list of saliant facts. If people are to be able to use wiki to find these songs, they need to know more than just the titles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tal1962 (talk • contribs) 15:20, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
Also, I disagree for other reasons. With respect to the editors here, information about these songs on the internet is scarce, and merely listing this is insufficent, in particular if Wiki is to be more than just a cursory website. What better way to guide people to the history of this and her other unrecorded compositions than to have pages which provide details and guide students of her career as to where they can find these songs and details as to how they came to be written but never recorded? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tal1962 (talk • contribs) 16:06, 12 January 2010 (UTC) --Tal1962 (talk) 16:19, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
Why has this been selected for "speedy deletion"? There is nothing in the article which is a copy of any copyrighted material. Please explain. Thank you. --Tal1962 (talk) 14:24, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
The only quote used here is NOT one from a book, but from an interview which is in public domain. That being the interview with Mike Wallace. This interview is found on no less than eight records or CDs. The video no longer exists, and the audio has never been copyrighted. Furthermore, it is more than fifty years old. --Tal1962 (talk) 14:30, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
I think I have done something wrong. I was trying to put a hang on tag at the top and appear to have changed something altogether. This was not done on purpose, but I am not sure how to fix it. --Tal1962 (talk) 14:51, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
