Avoiding use of PCU as a prefix or ship's name
[edit]"PCU" is not a prefix and is not part of the official or common name of a vessel, and should not be used on Wikipedia articles in ways that imply that it is. Please see the detailed discussion of this issue on the USS Gerald R. Ford talk page, or the resulting the WikiProject Military History talk page discussion. As noted in this article, "PCU" is also officially used by the Navy to refer to the unit assigned to the vessel, rather than the vessel itself. It's OK to refer to the PCU for a future Navy vessel, or retrospectively to the unit staff, but it is important to avoid implying that it is or previously was part of the vessel's name.
