Merger proposal
[edit]Song "Ami Banglay Gaan Gai" is popular and frequently mentioned briefly, as in: "Popular songs like Ami banglay gaan gai echoed at the programme", "Singer Pratul Mukhopadhyay, whose famous song on Bengal -- Ami Banglar Gaan Gai/ Ami Banglaye Gaan Gai (I sing song for Bengal/ I sing song in Bengali) is often played at different government's programmes", and "... sang Pratul Mukhopadhyay’s well known song Ami Banglay Gaan Gai at the programme".
Not enough, however, has been written about the song to serve as the raw material for a proper encyclopedia article. The policy What Wikipedia is not tells us that "Wikipedia treats creative works ... in an encyclopedic manner, discussing the development, design, reception, significance, and influence of works in addition to concise summaries of those works." According to the notability guideline for songs, "a standalone article is appropriate only when there is enough material to warrant a reasonably detailed article; articles unlikely ever to grow beyond stubs should be merged to articles about an artist".
Therefore I propose to merge Ami Banglay Gaan Gai into singer-songwriter Pratul Mukhopadhyay, retaining the name of the song as a redirect because it is a plausible search term. I think that the reliably sourced content in the song article can easily be explained in the context of the singer-songwriter, and both stubs are small enough that the merging will not cause any problems as far as article size is concerned. --Worldbruce (talk) 22:24, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
