King in a democracy?
[edit]India is a democratic republic and nobody can claim as the king of any part of it. Tripura state has an elected government and there is no place for any other ruler according to the Indian constitution.Joy1963 (talk) 14:12, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
Well the word king is an english word anyway as per the provisions the present ruler is the king of the royal house of tripura and his ascent to the throne is within the royal house of tripura. The present ruler is a tribal and thus like the khasi syiems in meghalaya he is the head of the tribal customory law in the the matter thereoff.i hope this debate will satisfy the arguements the present Bubaghra (king) as the tribals of tripura call him remains as in the traditional head of the tribal chief . —Preceding unsigned comment added by Belsabull (talk • contribs) 06:19, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
This claimant for the king of Tripura is not a tribal chief, he is a descendant of the erstwhile rulers of the princely state of Tripura, which was merged with India after independence. Some of the descendants of various royal houses which ruled the erstwhile princely states in India still think it fashionable to use the royal titles of their ancestors which have no locus standi. An encyclopedia article should be free of these POVs inserted by their admirers to promote them, which is against the policy of the Wikipedia.Joy1963 (talk) 08:19, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
hello joy if the king is not a trbal chief then please clarify what is one....in the case of the Khasi syiems in meghalaya which is recognized by the indian constitution .The mylliem chief and the hima are recognized bu the state and the union government of india. The deb burman are a recognized schedule tribe and according to the tribal customary law all rites and rituals are to be carried as per the strictures. The chantai and the hoda as well as the Rai sre appointed along twith the wishes of the bubaghra(the word for chief or king in kok borok-the trbal language in tripura ).Another point of note is that the manikya family is not from a rajput or dravidian lineage ,they are from the tibeto mongloid race.As pfor fashinable titles please understand he is the head of the royal family of tripura and not the entire state of tripura -peolpe like vijay mallaya who call themselves king of good times or Naresh goyal -who is called the king of skies are fashionable titles. If you think that he does not deserve a space in wikipedia then i will remove him forever...... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.162.154.27 (talk) 09:55, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
Sorry joy but do you want me to remove him as a royal and the name maharaja and put it as Bubaghra ,then the word democracy and king will suit better .Just that the english or the hindi meaning was what i had put please let me know .There should be no sentiments hurt i understand yours and i do hope u understand ours. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Belsabull (talk • contribs) 10:03, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
it is NONSENSE for people with no responsibility to go around calling themselves Maharajah. laughable —Preceding unsigned comment added by Yoyoma91 (talk • contribs) 02:46, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Oh my God, References are not found. Managed it removing some unsourced and unclear inputs. Wikifulness (talk) 19:19, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
Tripura was a princely state. But now it’s a state of India (Republic). So he is just a part of Manikya Dynasty, not a king. Wikifulness (talk) 19:43, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
