Middle name?!!
[edit]Does no one have any information about the most unusual middle name "Bastard"? --Eliyahu S Talk 01:43, 4 May 2014 (UTC)
- He was named after a family friend whose surname was Bastard (may have been his godparent). Unfortunately I can't find a reference for this. Dabbler (talk) 04:08, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
- I'm guessing it was either Edmund Bastard (politician) or his son John Bastard (Royal Navy officer), more likely the latter.63.238.88.170 (talk) 18:44, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
- Must be the father; the son was born after our subject. J S Ayer (talk) 23:37, 26 December 2023 (UTC)
