Ganso bomb edit

[edit]

Lou Thesz did not "invent the Ganso Bomb by botching a piledriver." It was a move that Thesz called a Greco-Roman front body drop, and hieroglyphics of the move appear on Egyptian tablets depicting wrestling-style combat. Removed reference--if someone wants to clean up that entry further they're welcome to do so. 65.186.74.194 02:56, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry but these claims are going to need some sources I did some checking and can find no reference to what you are claiming. --- Lid 03:09, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sure...

First, I've seen the match in question (vs. Rikidozan in Hawaii, 1955). It's a stiff move but it's clearly what Thesz was trying to accomplish. Second, he does the exact same move--a bit more "modern" in style--in a match against Antonino Rocca at MSG. Two years earlier. Third, the power bomb was used as a takedown-style move by numerous British wrestlers going back to the 1970's at least. And I can virtually guarantee you there was very little Lou Thesz wrestling tape circulation anywhere at the time, much less in England. Do a search of Lou Thesz's forum at wrestlingclassics.com and you'll doubtless find discussion of it there, some of it from Thesz himself. As for proof, best I can say is I KNOW I've seen a picture out there of a powerbomb depicted on a hieroglyphic. I looked and looked but couldn't find it again. But then, there isn't a source listed for the "Thesz botched a piledriver" story, either.65.186.74.194 06:55, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jeff Hardy

[edit]

Damn, you gotta put Jeff Hardy in not one but two pictures of him getting powerbomb.

Lou Thesz

[edit]

Unless someone provides a concrete source on the "botched piledriver" story in the next week, I'm taking it out. As soon as I can find it on wrestlingclassics.com, I'll post a source from a post made by Thesz himself denying the story and explaining that the modern "power bomb" is an old Greco-Roman takedown ("front body drop.") Last Ride

[edit]

It has been suggested by myself on the Undertaker article that The Last Ride be added into this article. Seeing as how this article all the versions of modified powerbombs such as jackknife powerbomb, I thought The Last Ride powerbomb could be added here. I didn't think the info belonged on the Undertaker article. Any other opinions? Cheers dude (talk) 12:54, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Chokebomb

[edit]

The term "Chokebomb" doesn't just refer to a sitout 2-handed chokeslam, but a sitout 1-handed chokeslam as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.224.159.77 (talk) 16:06, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Powerbomb variation question

[edit]

Does anybody know who uses the variation of the powerbomb, when the opponent does a frontflip just before a drop? --79.111.193.15 (talk) 14:05, 26 March 2011 (UTC)--Hawk18727 (talk) 11:23, 21 April 2011 (UTC) Me again. Actually, i found it. It is the finisher of Javi Air. You can find it at Youtube if you're interested. I think that this move sould be noted in this article.--Hawk18727 (talk) 11:23, 21 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures

[edit]

Can I mention that it's pointless to have two different pictures of a sitout powerbomb when neither show the actual sit-out part of the powerbomb? 72.185.238.122 (talk) 21:01, 14 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Danger

[edit]

Would someone consider writing up how the move is one of the most dangerous in wrestling, that has resulted in some very serious injuries. Several of the biggest names in wrestling have been injuried from powerbombs and botched powerbombs. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.66.64.225 (talk) 18:57, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
