Geography of Potluck
Would it be worthwhile to have a section describing what countries actually have potluck? Any maybe what it is called in other places? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 170.200.66.7 (talk) 22:13, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
- Need better sources in most cases, but here's what I've got for a few terms:
- bring and share lunch
- UK
- carry-in dinner
- South Dakota (anecdotal)
- community dinner
- dinner-on-the-grounds
- American churches (Way With Words)
- covered dish supper
- Southeast US (per this blog)
- favorite dish dinner
- Kentucky (per an old church newsletter)
- fuddle
- Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Bedfordshire (per wiktionary:fuddle)
- Jacob's join
- Lancashire, Cumbria (per a reader post at The Guardian)
- pitch-in
- Indiana (per Dictionary of American Regional English)
- southwest Indiana (anecdotal)
- pot luck, potluck
- UK, US (commonly attested)
- scramble
- Illinios (per Dictionary of American Regional English)
- I invite others to amend the list above. Ibadibam (talk) 00:51, 26 March 2016 (UTC)
