Potjie is the diminutive of Pot, ie small pot food.
I have never heard potjiekos pronounced "-kosh". S has the same pronunciation in afrikaans as it does in english. I am tempted to change the page but I might be wrong?

I have now made the change from "poy-kee-kosh" to "poy-kee-kos".

- I made a guess as to what the IPA was supposed to be, based on "poy-kee-kos". I assumed that the stress was "POY-kee-kos". kwami (talk) 00:03, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
Merger
[edit]The traditions, history and culture of potjiekos are very similar to a braai, so I suggest a merger.Socrates2008 14:55, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
- Against. The only thing potjiekos and braai have in common is that both involve an open fire.leuce 09:31, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- Against. I have been to dozens of braais, but have never had potjiekos or seen it served at any. Very limited similarities. Park3r 13:10, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
- Against (5 years after the fact, mind you). Keep it simple. The piece is about Potjiekos, not the varied delights of South African cuisine. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mare Nostrum (talk • contribs) 11:48, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
