[edit]This is not correct, "Portland Channel" has a precise legal meaning and includes Tongass Passage and Pearse Canal; see "Pearse Canal". BC Geographical Names.. The term "Portland Channel" has a history dating to the Anglo-Russian Treaty of 1825 and negotiations leading to it; see cites from Alexander Begg at Alaska boundary dispute.Skookum1 (talk) 16:24, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
