Notable Teachers

[edit]

The section provides a small list of teachers who are "Notable". There is no information provided as to the notability of these teachers, so I removed the section. If someone can provide justification as to why the teachers are notable, please feel free to add the section back with the explanations. Right now, it appears to be a violation of wikipedia policy. I agree. A section of that sort should not be added unless cited on what the teacher has done that would be notable.Ickalanda 21:20, 18 February 2007

Notable Alumni

[edit]

I have sorted this group alphabetically and added a reference for Eric Stephen Alexander. I also commented out the seemingly less than notable Phil Waskowsky as it appears to be a violation of WP:COI. - Terryfoster 15:03, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Looks good. Nenyedi 19:16, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Govind Rangrass

[edit]

Govind Rangrass has been from this section in the article as a citation proving notability has yet been provided. --Terryfoster 20:53, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Terry, I feel Govind Rangrass should be included in the list of notable alumni because he pioneered the first Portage Central Hindu students group, is the captain of the nationally renown and winning Yale Bhangra Team, and has been quoted in the Times of India in reference to his contacts with major Bollywood personalities as Hrithik Roshan. I also feel it is important that Govind's name be kept on the list because he serves as a role model for other Indian high school students living in the Kalamzoo, Mich area. Please consider my request to keep Govind's name on the list of notable alumni. Thank you.

Can you prove that Rangrass passes the requirements at WP:N, and back it up according to WP:RS? If not, they are lack notability to be mentioned in the article. Nenyedi(DeedsTalk) 02:16, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I looked at your source, the organization fails WP:ORG, so the creator has no notability in this situation. Nenyedi(DeedsTalk) 02:18, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Arts

[edit]

I included under the direction of Kathy Mulay because that is only the list of musicals and plays performed at PCHS while she was director. I have not been able to attain a list of productions prior to that time, the school has been in existence since 1922 so there have been many more before that. I would like to request to retain at least the part about those are the productions while under her direction. Ickalanda 03:40, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I made a copy edit that should resolve the concern about trying to list shows dating back to 1922. - Terryfoster 12:25, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

it's actually Jill Waskowsky and she would be notable for the fact that she is the director of the "locally and internationally known" Portage Central arts program.

  • Jill Waskowsky may be the director of the arts program but Kathy Mulay is definitely the actual director of the plays and musicals, I have participated in two of the musicals myself and seen many of the plays and musicals and she is definitely without a doubt the director. [edit]

Since Portage Public Schools are well referenced in this article, I don't see the point of including another link to the Portage Public Schools' Wiki article. I do think this is a good place to link to another somewhat related article for Kalamazoo Public Schools. If there isn't a consensus, then this link should be removed and only the external links should remain. Terryfoster 12:25, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What you say makes little sense to me. If I don't make sense, please let me know. The way that it is right now, there is a link to Kalamazoo Public Schools in the "See Also" section. There is no link to Portage Schools, because that link is in the infobox. In my opinion, you should still have a wikilink to PPS, because the references are external links. --Nenyedi TalkDeeds@ 03:20, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This discussion is in reference to this edit which undid an edit to include yet another link to the PPS Wiki article. I changed it to link to KPS instead due to the number of links in the article to the PPS article. If a user is interested in PPS there are 4 other wiki links contained within the article. My request for consensus was merely for the link to the KPS article. --Terryfoster 12:33, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
