Potential Bibliography
[edit]Hi fellow editors!
I am planning to edit this article and have compiled a list of sources I intend to pull from to enhance reader understanding of Porphyromonas. Please review my sources and let me know if you take any issues with them.
- Guilloux, Charles-Antoine; Lamoureux, Claudie; Beauruelle, Clémence; Héry-Arnaud, Geneviève (2021-04-01). "Porphyromonas: A neglected potential key genus in human microbiomes". Anaerobe. [1]
- This is a peer-reviewed scientific article and seems to be a reliable source. It is recent and provides a comprehensive overview of Porphyromonas species. I think it will help me define the parameters of my topic.
- Paster, B J; Dewhirst, F E; Olsen, I; Fraser, G J (1994-02). "Phylogeny of Bacteroides, Prevotella, and Porphyromonas spp. and related bacteria". Journal of Bacteriology.[2]
- While this is a reliable scientific article, it is very dated. However, I have chosen to include it because it has background information that was elucidated then and still relevant today.
- Acuña-Amador, Luis; Barloy-Hubler, Frédérique (2020-12-01). "Porphyromonas spp. have an extensive host range in ill and healthy individuals and an unexpected environmental distribution: A systematic review and meta-analysis". Anaerobe. [3]
- This is a recently written scientific article and as a result is has not been cited often. However, I think it can support the breadth of Porphyromonas species and promote understanding of ecological distribution.
- Falagas, Matthew E; Siakavellas, Elias (2000-06-01). "Bacteroides, Prevotella, and Porphyromonas species: a review of antibiotic resistance and therapeutic options". International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents.[4]
- This is a relatively outdated scientific article that is reliable but could veer into irrelevant territory. I think this article is important to include because it provides a mechanistic perspective on Porphyromonas, which I think adds important context to the article.
- Kato, Tamotsu; Yamazaki, Kyoko; Nakajima, Mayuka; Date, Yasuhiro; Kikuchi, Jun; Hase, Koji; Ohno, Hiroshi; Yamazaki, Kazuhisa (2018-10-31). D’Orazio, Sarah E. F. (ed.). "Oral Administration of Porphyromonas gingivalis Alters the Gut Microbiome and Serum Metabolome". mSphere. [5]
- This is a peer-reviewed scientific article that is recent and well-cited. With much of the literature on Porphyromonas centered around P. gingivalis, I think it will be important to specifically underscore its relevance.
- Mysak, Jaroslav; Podzimek, Stepan; Sommerova, Pavla; Lyuya-Mi, Yelena; Bartova, Jirina; Janatova, Tatjana; Prochazkova, Jarmila; Duskova, Jana (2014-03-25). "Porphyromonas gingivalis: Major Periodontopathic Pathogen Overview". Journal of Immunology Research.[6]
- This is a well-cited, relatively recent, scientific article that seems to be reliable. I think it will help me outline the pathogenicity of Porphyromonas, which is a gap in the current article.
- Galvão, Klibs N.; Bicalho, Rodrigo C.; Jeon, Soo Jin (2019-12). "Symposium review: The uterine microbiome associated with the development of uterine disease in dairy cows". Journal of Dairy Science. [7]
- This is a peer-reviewed scientific article that seems reliable. I think it will be helpful for me to spatially map Porphyromonas in the body, despite the main focus of the study not being this genus.
- Senhorinho, Gerusa N. A.; Nakano, Viviane; Liu, Chengxu; Song, Yuli; Finegold, Sydney M.; Avila-Campos, Mario J. (2012-08-01). "Occurrence and antimicrobial susceptibility of Porphyromonas spp. and Fusobacterium spp. in dogs with and without periodontitis". Anaerobe.[8]
- This is another scientific article, and it appears to be reliable. It is a little older, but I think it is relevant because it could enhance a section where I want to highlight antimicrobial resistance.
- Zhou, Yuhua; Lin, Feishen; Cui, Zelin; Zhang, Xiangrong; Hu, Chunmei; Shen, Tian; Chen, Chunyan; Zhang, Xia; Guo, Xiaokui (2015-05-22). "Correlation between Either Cupriavidus or Porphyromonas and Primary Pulmonary Tuberculosis Found by Analysing the Microbiota in Patients' Bronchoalveolar Lavage Fluid". PLOS ONE. [9]
- This is a somewhat recent scientific article that is generally reliable. Once again, I think it will be helpful in spatially mapping Porphyromonas and its prevalence throughout the body.
- Gomes, B. P. F. A.; Jacinto, R. C.; Pinheiro, E. T.; Sousa, E. L. R.; Zaia, A. A.; Ferraz, C. C. R.; Souza-Filho, F. J. (2005-08). "Porphyromonas gingivalis, Porphyromonas endodontalis, Prevotella intermedia and Prevotella nigrescens in endodontic lesions detected by culture and by PCR". Oral Microbiology and Immunology. [10]
- This is an older peer-reviewed scientific article that may have some parts that are outdated. However, the article goes in-depth about techniques used to detect Porphyromonas, which I think would elevate this article.
- "Porphyromonas - an overview | ScienceDirect Topics". www.sciencedirect.com. Retrieved 2022-10-06.[11]
- This is a compilation of scientific articles, chapters, and books that go into detail about Porphyromonas. Given that information is sparse, I think this would be a reliable sort of database to pull from since ScienceDirect is largely peer-reviewed.
- Gabarrini, G.; Chlebowicz, M.A.; Vega Quiroz, M.E.; Veloo, A.C.M.; Rossen, J.W.A.; Harmsen, H.J.M.; Laine, M.L.; van Dijl, J.M.; van Winkelhoff, A.J. (2018-05). "Conserved Citrullinating Exoenzymes in Porphyromonas Species". Journal of Dental Research[12]
- This is a newer article and I believe it is reliable since it is a peer-reviewed scientific article. I think it would be beneficial to include this article as I make my edits as it gives insights into the biochemistry of Porphyromonas species.
