Improving this stub
[edit]Hello, I am new to Wikipedia editing, but not new to keeping this species or scientific writing. I already corrected a few serious factual errors. Namely that this species is not a livebearer. I also removed information that appeared to be derived from sources about guppy fish that mudded the description of their appearance. However, I think this page could use more work. I may come back and do it myself when I get the time.
- Copyediting: The description section is choppy and the some of the sentence construction seems off to me, but I'd need to check before changing. For example: "As of October 2024, the IUCN lists P. normani as "Least Concern," meaning it is not currently at risk of endangerment"
- Citations: I removed the citation to a book about guppies (and the information attributed to it), but I think others need to be checked.
- This weight does not sound right to me, but I didn't not change it as I would like to find source on it: "Adult males and females typically weigh between 0.07–0.34 grams."
- Does the IUCN listing say this? "While P. normani has greater "plasticity" (ability to adapt) compared to other species, extreme weather conditions may challenge the species' survival in the future." if not what is the citation?
Beyond that, per the goals of the Aquarium Fishes WikiProject, this page could use some more of the care information. Like I said before, some of this a list for myself, but if anyone else wants to help I would greatly appreciate it! I love this little species and keep them myself. So, I'd like to see them get a nicely written page, even if it still only counts as a stub.
