Talk:Population variance

I created this article today, with the aim of creating an article on the population variance that is more conventional than the true variance article. Since the true variance term is defined on that page to be something different from the population variance (i.e. it is explicitly stated that it can be computed from a sample), this is not an attempt to create a parallel page on the same term. It isn't clear that either this article or the previous version of true variance has any purpose that is not served by variance. In fact most of variance is concerned with what is called "population variance". Perhaps you can explain why you believe a separate article is required. McKay (talk) 03:00, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, in fact, this article wasn't really correct, as it didn't handle the Bessel correction at all. linas (talk) 03:58, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
