Illustrations

[edit]

It is strange to have this article without any illustrations. The illustrations I have added were deleted without any particular motivation. Does anybody have any suggestions?79.139.152.202 (talk) 18:57, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It's an encyclopedia and the images that were presented do not properly illustrate this articles content.Modernist (talk) 19:01, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fashion industry

[edit]

One editor removed the entire section on fashion, for vague reasons, even though it is sourced. I reverted. In my opinion The fashion industry plays a significant role in shaping popular culture. Fashion is not just about clothing, but it is also a form of self-expression and a way of communicating one's identity and values to others. As such, it influences the way people present themselves to the world and how they are perceived by others. People "out of fashion" lose influence among trendsetters, Fashion trends and styles often emerge from leaders in the industry Paris, Milan, New York etc and are then adopted by the general public. Fashion designers, models, and other influencers have a big significant impact on what is considered stylish and fashionable at any given time. The industry also has a substantial influence on advertising, media, and entertainment, as well as on the beauty and cosmetics industries. The fashion industry also plays a role in popular culture through its impact on social issues. The industry has the power to challenge societal norms and values by promoting diversity, inclusivity, and sustainability in its advertising. By championing these causes, the fashion industry does shape public perceptions and promotes change. Rjensen (talk) 20:37, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Two editors removed it, and the section is not well sourced - the second source is a global warming paper which I assume was copied by mistake. The whole section was only written a couple of weeks ago, and by one person, User:KristinaAllen.
You make very good points about fashion's role in popular culture, and it does probably merit a section!
But I don't think that section should be the attempt written by KristinaAllen about "The evolution of fashion trends throughout the years", of which maybe one sentence is relevant to the topic at hand (celebrities and influencers are at the forefront of setting fashion trends through various platforms), if it is even true.
