Removed entities

[edit]

I have removed the following entries from the disambiguation page:

References

The problems with the entities are as follows:

  • most of the names violate the WP:NC:CITY#Russia guideline for naming the articles on Russian inhabited localities. As all of the links are red, it is unsuitable to offer them as names for new articles to be created.
  • I was unable to verify existence of the places in this list against Russian legal documents pertaining to administrative and territorial composition of the federal subjects. The entities in question may have been renamed, abolished, or, considering the source (a generic geo-names search engine hosted in a US military domain), may be erroneous, mis-named ("Popovka" instead of "Popovo", for example), or not updated in time.

Additionally, please note that per WP:MOSDAB disambiguation entries are not to contain additional information beyond that required for a reader to select an appropriate article. Examples of information that should not be on the dab page include geographic coordinates, references, and excessive textual descriptions. All this information should go into the actual articles or, if the article does not yet exist, placed in comments next to the dab entry or on the talk page for future use.

I have not made any corrections to the "rivers and streams" section. It still requires an extensive cleanup and verification.

If there are any questions, please list them here.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 16:17, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Various editors have added many more entries that don't have articles, or even a mention at the articles that actually exist about the administrative divisions they're in. I've removed all of these. It is not the purpose of a disambiguation page to provide encyclopedic content beyond what exists in articles proper. Hairy Dude (talk) 21:27, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
