Deletion
[edit]The following section is completely unintelligible as it stands, and the source given seems to be a neogeocentrist blog, not a credible source. There is probably valid information being stated here, but it needs to be put in an intelligible and objective form, none of this tendentious "nail in the coffin" business. - I'm not sure I understand what is being said here. Is Alexander being praised for his strong advocacy of geocentrism, or condemned for abandoning geocentrism in favor of heliocentrism? I would suggest that we not credit any material deriving out of sources who believe that the sun revolves around the earth. john k 01:47, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
Theology
[edit]Alexander VII put the final nail in the coffin of the heliocentrism issue. He published his Index Librorum Prohibitorum Alexandri VII Pontificis Maximi jussu editus which he prefaced with the Bull Speculatores Dominus Israel in which he explicitly attached all the previous heliocentric decrees ("...which we will should be considered as though it were inserted in these presents, together with all, and singular, the things contained therein...") and using his Apostolic authority bound the faithful to its contents ("...and approve with Apostolic authority by the tenor of these presents, and: command and enjoin all persons everywhere to yield this Index a constant and complete obedience...") (SOURCE).
Conclave
[edit]The wiki-page on the Conclave states that, "Though Fabio Chigi was not the Spanish nominee, those cardinals who stood in support of Spain had no particular objection to him." They are, I think, correct; this page on Alexander VII, I think, is wrong. Get some references as proof, one way or the other. Vicedomino (talk) 02:23, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
