Subject's history
[edit]While well respected among his musical peers, Poindexter's career is not broadly documented. The Candell Conservatory of Music was founded by Dr. Thomas P. Candell after he was discharged from the military after WW II. Since Poindexter went on the road for years starting in 1947, his window of opportunity to study there would have been when he was just beyond high school. It closed in about 1964 and was equally obscure though mentions of its better known attendees can be found. Candell's obit is here: <ref> https://www.eastbaytimes.com/2006/01/05/obituaries-2626/<ref> If an editor is interested in pursuing expanding this page, I would recommend obtaining his autobiography on an inter-library loan, if possible.
