Protein names sourced from Genbank database moved here
[edit]…so that proper secondary references can be identified, if the subject is noteworthy enough:
- The blue mussel protein is called mefp-5.
- The one for the Mediterranean mussel, Mytilus galloprovincialis, is called fp-5,
- ref>Mytilus galloprovincialis foot protein-5 mRNA, partial cds on GenBank</ref> fp being the abbreviation for foot protein.
Besides being bare URLs, database entries obscure validity of text and information in articles; information is dynamic, is not verified, and is not associated with refereed content. This is an unacceptable form of primary source, in an article only having primary sources.
Better citations have to be provided, for the information to return to the article. Unfortunately, in the dozen years since this field emerged, about 20 primary sources are available, and I could find but one review associated with testing as a dental material.

Opinion on article relevancy
[edit]I believe this article does meet Wikipedia's standards for relevancy. It was very useful to me in beginning to read about adhesives produced by marine invertebrates.
