Village
[edit]Nyttend says that Polvadera is not a village, what he means is that according to the US Census Bureau that it is not a village for census purposes. Of course villages existed long before the US Census Bureau, and the Census Bureau realizes that some of these, like Lemitar, New Mexico were fully incorporated, but because the census tracks (which are nice mappable polygons) do not match the boundaries of the village, the Census Bureau does not call them villages for census purposes. See the discussion at Census by zipcode for a comparable problem. Polvadera is located in two different census tracks (9781 and 9782) because the Census Bureau uses I-25 as the boundary north of Socorro. Even the census blocks don't accommodate to the village boundaries, for example, Block 1133 (2000 Census) covers both northeast Polvadera and southeastern Chamizal, while Bolck 1163 (2000 Census) covers part of southwestern Polvadera and part of western McNierney. --Bejnar (talk) 18:53, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
