Talk:Politics of Bhutan

There's lots of unsourced and implied POV in this article as it now stands - references to "evidence" and "independent journalists" without listing any, and attributions that political unrest is stirred up by "professional agitators and illegal immigrants." But where is the evidence from? To say that "not all" refugee claims are genuine is meaningless; there's a big difference between 2% being false and 50%. Also, there's no explanation of why the refugees have left, or when. In short, this article needs cleaning up. Bruxism 17:56, 25 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The part about refugees is very very biased and has to be cleaned up. It should mention that Bhutan instituted discriminatory measures against their ethnically-Nepali citizens. Tens of thousands of people were deported or otherwise forced to leave the country. It should mention that the Bhutanese government has come under severe condemnation from human rights groups including AI & HRW. It is instructive to see HRW's explanation of the situation: http://hrw.org/backgrounder/wrd/refugees/3.htm

In short the page is quite shameful and has to be corrected. Alternatively, just delete it and put links which give both sides. The way it is now is absurd.

Update Is Needed

[edit]

This article needs to be updated. Other articles say that the change from a unicamaral legislature to a bicameral legislature has already occured, but the information in this article does not reflect this and needs to be changed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ltwin (talkcontribs) 22:04, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, there's a lot of updating that needs to be done here. We should stay on top of this with all that's been going on there lately. It's really confusing because a lot of other websites, including official Bhutanese government sites, don't even reflect the changes. --LakeHMM (talk) 04:46, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Important notice

[edit]

The government section of the "Outline of Bhutan" needs to be checked, corrected, and completed -- especially the subsections for the government branches.

When the country outlines were created, temporary data (that matched most of the countries but not all) was used to speed up the process. Those countries for which the temporary data does not match must be replaced with the correct information.

Please check that this country's outline is not in error.

Thank you.
